Cry Baby
Ok so I’ll review the first children’s book on Blog the Day Away. First I want to tell you that I don’t cry that often. Even when I’m really freaking out I tend to bottle it up and hold it inside so I was totally surprised when I ended up crying after reading Truman’s library book. It’s “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. It’s about a lady with a baby and as it grows she keeps repeating to him,
“I’ll love you forever,
I’ll like you for always,
As long as I’m living
my baby you’ll be.”
So I was actually getting unnerved through the book as she crawled into her son’s room and then broke into his house as an adult to rock him and sing this to him. Then the tables turned and he ends up rocking her as I suppose she’s dying and repeats the phrase to her. I could barely read it to my kids. I was totally choking up and sputtering out the words. I went from being totally annoyed at the lack of privacy and inappropriateness to sobbing. I still think the lead up is creepy but the end result is precious.
Am I the last to hear about this book? Does everyone already have it in their collection? If not, you should check it out.
What did you think about the book? Too creepy to get through or just enough of a turn around at the end to be endearing?

I’m the same way. I hate that she full on goes into his place after he’s an adult and not living at home…hello apron strings!
But I always cry at the end. Thomas then asks me “Mommy, are you happy?” Aw.

I don’t really think about the creepiness factor, but we’ve had this book for years and I absolutely refuse to read this to my kids if they ask me, because I can’t make it through the first few pages without bawling. They will beg me sometimes, and I absolutely will not do it. I tell them they’ll have to go ask Daddy if they want to hear that book!
