Journey to the Center of the Earth
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually liked this movie. Maybe it’s the expectations thing I was talking about earlier. I thought this movie was going to suck and was pleasantly surprised by it. I’m not saying this is phenomenal and you should run out an buy it, I’m just saying if you were ever curious about it, rent it. The story goes that while on a trip to Finland, Trevor and his nephew Sean pick up a trail guide Hannah and go searching for some scientific instruments. Turns out after getting trapped in a cave they find that Jules Verne’s novel is in fact non-fiction. They’ve found the center of the Earth chock full of man eating plants and dinosaurs. The real question is how they are going to get out.
This was made as a 3-D movie so it’s fun to watch all the effects they’ve put in and imagine what that would look like. I didn’t watch this with my kids but I think they would be fine if they saw it. It might scare the 3-year old a little but I think he’d get over it pretty quick.
Did any of your kids watch it? What did they think?

I just can’t watch any movies with Brendan Fraser in it- I loved him in school ties, and then he did Airheads, and it was all downhill from there (bedazzled? seriously?)

I had low expectations because of Brenda Fraser—but he pleasantly surprised me. When he isn’t playing an idiot he is actually a good actor. I think I’ll buy this movie. I wouldn’t mind watching it again.
I think if Thomas saw this movie he would have nightmares about falling down holes, exploring caves, or running into a spare T-Rex.

Thanks for the review – we’ve debated renting this. Maybe we’ll get it tonight with a free rental code!
