Survivor Tocantins: Dragon Slayer
I actually don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard watching a Survivor episode. Coach and Tyson were the standouts for me. Although I’ve been annoyed at Coach for most of the game, now I just find him entertaining. I think meditating is great- and totally works. But to me, it’s quite spiritual. And when someone does it for show (like Coach was doing) doesn’t that completely defeat the purpose? Oh Coach… And does he really believe all the crap that comes out of his mouth? The Dragon Slayer thing was so funny… and clearly the producers agreed, when they added the lightning effects. Jeff Probst’s take on Coach is quite amusing as well. You can read it here.
As for Tyson… that guy reminds me so much of my brother. His all-too-serious sexual references crack me up. In referring to Brendan and keeping enemies close, Tyson said, “He’s felt my warm, steamy breath on the nape of his neck. Even on the small of his back.” And when he won the challenge, “I kick ass, like I always do. And if any ladies want my phone number… ask.” I was quite proud of him for winning. I thought his shoeless effort might have given him the edge. And, although it may be a given… I was also proud to see that he drank water at the feast, while everyone else had champagne. I would imagine it might be difficult to stick to your standards in a situation like that.
There was quite a lot of scheming going on this week. So much, that I can’t tell who will actually trust and maintain their alliance. I think Brendan and Sierra are the only ones staying faithful to their “cross-tribe” alliance. Clearly, Taj and Stephen have no loyalty to it. I would never trust Coach, and I don’t think Tyson and J.T. can be trusted either. But my favorite moment had to have been after Stephen and J.T. planned to split votes between Brendan and Sierra, (making sure that JT wouldn’t be the one going home), and then Coach took ALL the credit! That guy has one big ego. They’d better blindside him before it gets too late!
In the end, Joe went home for medical reasons. (After all the medical shows I’ve watched, I could have told that guy he might lose his life with an infection like that.) The funny part to me was how sad everyone was that they weren’t going to tribal council! I would have expected people to hide it a little better. I always enjoy the show more after the merge. So, I’m looking forward to all the plotting and scheming to come.
Watch Survivor Thursdays on CBS, at 8pm PST.

This season I am not attached to anyone yet. For me, everyone is the same. At this point I am watching it because of a) Jeff and b) clean tv for the family…
unlike The Hills which I just finished watching.
