Glee: Acafella

Screen shot 2009-09-17 at 4.55.17 PMOkay, any doubts I may have had last week were completely dissolved in watching the episode last night. And, I’m seeing a theme emerge from each episode. As last week was all about sex, this week was about guts. So, I’m all in, and totally loving it!

First, I could not get over how hilarious the guys were when they sang “Happy Birthday” in 3-part harmony. And then to come up with the name “Acafella.” I was laughing out loud as they rehearsed in the living room together. I had even seen the title for the episode ahead of time, but I didn’t pronounce it correctly in my mind. And I loved Josh Groban’s little guest appearance!

Second, with every episode, I love the Cheerio coach more and more. She plays a fabulous “villain,” and although she’s pretty unrealistic, it makes for great entertainment.

Oh, and I can’t forget to mention how great it is to have a “cougar hunter” in the mix. As the show gets rolling, I think we’ll see certain people start to play more prominent roles. Who doesn’t love a good teenage boy/friend’s mom romance? Ha!

Lastly, I can’t wait to see what’s in store with Will’s wife. I don’t know how anyone falls for knowing the sex of a baby before you even have smidgen of a belly to show for it. But, whatever. I guess the longer she keeps it a secret, the more dramatic it will make it down the road.

I just LOVE Mercedes- first I couldn’t get her song out of my head, and then I love how she falls for the, clearly, gay guy. You’re right, the show gets better and better- and really they could just sing the whole episode and I would be happy. I’m loving the music.

I can’t wait to see how this fake pregnancy rolls out even though I hate Will’s wife. I’m still curious to see what she does.

From the previews it looks like she’s going to bust out a fake belly or something, but I’m not sure how she plans to hide that from her husband who she lives and shares a bed with. Speaking of beds, didn’t you love the line where Will mentions how great it is that he and his wife are getting it on more, “We’re up to once a week now!” Classic.

I was cracking up when they busted out “Poison” and the other Boyz II Men songs. Then “I wanna sex you up” for the parents meeting? So great.

Oh, and the thumbs cake for the shop teacher! That belongs on Cake Wrecks.

Julianne- I thought the same thing about the awesome thumbs-up cake… and apparently, so did they!

Cake wrecks posted about the cake from Glee:

Must there be a homosexual storyline on EVERY show??? I am clearly out voted but if Glee doesn’t smarten up I am out. I guess I just don’t have the same sense of humor!
