Community: Pilot
I’ll admit I didn’t watch the show last night because I watched on facebook back in August when I told you guys about it so it’s not fresh in my mind but I remember loving it.
I love Joel McHal’s character Jeff. Completely without scruples and he totally knows and embraces it. I love that he set up a one on one study group to get a girl that ended up being a huge group session for which he knows nothing about.
I love that Abed talked to Britta for two seconds and got the rundown on her entire life. He’s a great character.
I love sympathizing “with a pencil and giving Ben Afflek and Academy Award for screenwriting.” His speech at the end was amazing.
I love that Britta flat turned Jeff down in front of the whole group.
Booyah.
I promise I’ll pay more attention next week. I hope you guys love this show as much as I love this show. How did it go for you?
Community is on Thursdays at 9:30pm on NBC.

The Abed kid makes the show, in my opinion. That scene where he busts out the Breakfast Club lines about his dad beating him up was HI-larious! All his fast talking and side commentary kept me entertained. Chevy Chase was a little disappointing, not as funny as I’d hoped, but the Soup guy can definitely hold his own playing a narcissistic, sarcastic guy who wants to cheat his way through comm. college.
“I told them I had a law degree from Columbia… but they wanted one from the United States.” Funny.

I loved this episode too, but I’m going to make one complaint. I really do love Joel McHale- I think he’s freakin’ hilarious, but I really really hope that this pilot episode wasn’t an indicator of the show being carried on his back. Just like “The Office,” some of the most hilarious moments are from the rest of the cast, and I hope we get to see more of them in future episodes. I actually thought the Chevy Chase character was hilarious- maybe because I’ve been to my fair share of community colleges and can relate to being in class with the creepy old guy. The opening sequence with the dean was by far the most I laughed all night- “anyone seen my card? anyone?”
