Glee: Ballad

Screen shot 2009-11-19 at 2.08.37 PMI have to say, I really enjoyed this episode… more so than many of them in the past. The school-girl crush was absolutely hilarious- both Suzie Pepper (was that her name?) and Rachel. Of course high schoolers have crushes on the young, good-looking teachers. I still remember the one young male teacher when I was a Senior, and all the girls had a crush on him. (However, he was also married, and no one was dumb enough to actually flirt with him!) And no one would be so clueless to not get his awesome mash-up ballad: “Young Girl/Don’t Stand So Close to Me.” Loved it!!

I was also so glad that we’re finally getting somewhere with people finding out about Quinn. (However it didn’t take the turn I thought.) Yay for Finn’s mom, and handling it in the absolutely best way possible. Boo for Quinn’s parents. Who does that?! I think we’re seeing this theme come up again and again… kids either make mistakes, or their lives go in a direction their parents wouldn’t want. And parents can choose how to handle it. Despite what your child does, thinks, says, etc. don’t you want them to know that you’ll always love them, no matter what? I hope there are people out there, who might gain a little different perspective from watching this show. Although every aspect might not appeal to everyone, I can definitely see the positive messages they’re trying to convey.

I am really starting to feel bad for Puck. He’s actually trying to be involved, and take ownership, but is being shot down. Even Mercedes told him it was Quinn’s choice and to get over it! (Which I don’t agree with.) I’m seriously waiting for it to come out, for someone to believe Finn about them not having sex, and to explain to him that he can’t possibly be the father.

Overall, a great episode in my mind! Glee airs Wednesday nights, 9pm PST, on Fox.

I heart Glee!! And it just keeps getting better. That intro scene where Rachel and Will sang “Endless Love” was absolutely hilarious. Loved the zoom-ins on both their expressions. And then of course Finn in the bathroom at Quinn’s house,”I gotta go. They’re going to think I’m pooping.” So great.

Yes, Quinn’s parents are ridiculous and cruel, but the sad part is that there definitely ARE parents like that who set impossibly high standards for their children. Teaching in Saratoga definitely taught me a little something about that…

Loved it!
