Well, I can’t deny that it was significantly better than Twilight. But, I just didn’t LOVE it. I think the hype of it all has possibly started to wear off for me. Also, I happened to go with 2 people who had seen it, and mocked its cheesiness. (They contained themselves for me, but I think knowing how they felt made every cheesy part quite apparent.) I still love the books… but my expectations will definitely be lowered if/when they make the other movies.

And on top of everything- this movie actually made me want to switch to Team Jacob. I didn’t that heart-wrenching feeling when Edward left… That was so significant in the book, and while we “saw” Bella’s depression, and the time passing, I just didn’t feel much emotion from her about it.

I really loved it. This was my least favorite book of the four so I was really surprised at how much I loved it. I am a sucker for Edward and a nice bod in his absence. I know, totally shallow. If you’d like to to see my review, check out my blog.

Seriously, what a difference a bigger budget and a new director can make! Such an improvement from the first one in terms of overall quality. I agree that the emotion of the book really came across, too, something hard to do in book-to-movie adaptations. The cinematography made everything and everyone very nice to look at, and even the special effects were awesome.

I loved it and can’t wait to see it again!

Amy, We’ve all read the Hunger Games series and we love them. You’ll have to look back pretty far for our reviews though. I’m really skeptical about a movie. How can they possibly make it PG-13 which is the target audience of the books? I don’t know but I can’t wait for book three.

I’m just like you — not as obsessed as I was last year. And I really loved New Moon. I think they did a much better job sticking with the book, but still editing for time. And adding in a few things that made it much better — emails to Alice, Victoria and Harry, Edward and Felix fighting.

It was SO much better than Twilight!!!

Thanks for this review—I’m seeing it next week. I’m only going bc a bunch of my girlfriends are way into it. I think I’m still really into the books, but that first movie just took the wind out of my sails. Plus, I just don’t imagine Bella or Edward as either of those actors portray them.

I just finished reading the first 2 books of the Hunger Games trilogy. The 3rd is coming out next year, and they’re making the 1st book into a movie in 2011. I really REALLY hope it isn’t R since I don’t watch R movies. But those books moved me in ways I haven’t been moved in years—I bawled at the end of the 2nd one. Have you ladies read these books?

I agree with you on the part about Bella’s voice being heard. That was my very first thought once the movie was over, that in Twilight, we really didn’t hear much of what Bella was thinking or going through as we did in the book. New Moon really did a great job with the emails to Aice thing.
