Now, we’re not a news site but since we are all really invested in movies I thought I’d pass this along as an interesting bit of information. Redbox are those big red boxes (how ironic) that you can find at your grocery store that rent DVD new releases for cheap. Well it turns out some people in the film industry aren’t happy with Redbox and say they are hurting their bottom line.

Universal apparently told their distributors to stop selling their new releases to Redbox within 45 days of a title’s release. So you can still get the movie but you have to wait 45 days. There is a lawsuit going on between Universal and Red Box to determine what is going to happen. Now Fox has gotten in on the “hold the new release” ticket so more may follow.

I don’t even use Redbox, I’m a Netflix kind of girl, but this makes me mad. How about you? Will you wait the 45 days or will you go through another vender or will some of you download illegally just to stick it to the man?

I’m not a reporter so this is just a taste of what’s going on. If you want to read the article on /film (pronounced slashfilm) go here.

I came across two new giveaways and thought I’d pass them on.

The first I heard of from Wonder Woman and I’m not at all familiar with the person actually giving the stuff away but if she wants to give it I’ll gladly put my name in the pot.

Annette Lyon is an author with a new book coming out entitled Tower of Strength. You can see a preview for it here:

Her giveaway includes custom bibs, CDs, perfume inspired by the heroine in the book, gourmet popcorn and much more. There are ways of getting your name put in the drawing more than once including what I’ve just done by talking about it and posting the preview on the blog. Winners are drawn everyday.

The second giveaway is from The Misplaced Americans who is celebrating her 200th post. She claims she will not actually be giving anything away unless she gets at least 100 entries so hurry over and leave a comment. She’s giving away a bunch of Brazilian goodies so it will be worth your while.

I can’t promise to be up on every giveaway on the web but I’ll let you know about the ones I come across. Hope one of us wins!!!

OK, update. Apparently today Mormon Mommy Blogs has started a forum for blogs to list their giveaways and such so you might as well just head over there because there are two more giveaways that I haven’t told you about. Nice of MMB to do that. Now I can enter in all kinds of giveaways I know nothing about. Yippee!!

Update number two. One of the giveaway sites is now one of my favorites and I want you to check it out. It’s Pulsipher Predilections and the girl who does the blog is HILARIOUS. Just read through a couple of her most recent posts and you’ll be hooked too. The one about the Bumpit I know Laura will especially enjoy. She even has the commercial on there. This may be a different one than you saw but it’s still funny. Seriously guys, check her out.

This is a new blog that my husband found and it’s pictures of huge, grotesque meals that some people eat. Part of me is totally cracking up because who in their right mind puts corn dogs on a pizza but I have to be honest, some of the food grosses me out to the extreme. Like the Turbaconucken which is a chicken inside a duck inside a turkey, all wrapped in bacon. I’ve heard of the turkey, chicken, duck combination before but wrapped in bacon. Oh my gosh, that makes my insides squirm.

The bi-line of the blog is “Where dreams become heart attacks.” True that! This just reminded me of the show I’ve told you about, Man vs Food, where the host Adam eats ridiculous amounts of food. During the beginning of the show he doesn’t do any challenges but he eats these types of large portions of food. It’s so gross. Except of course when he eats something sweet, then I’m all over it.

Since we’re talking about Man v Food here’s this weeks synospis:

Adam’s chow-down quest brings him to Seattle, Washington this week for a big, breakfast challenge. But first, he visits Red Mill Burgers, which has been serving up delicious milkshakes, onion rings (voted best in the country), and a wide variety of award-winning burgers. Since Adam can’t leave Seattle without sampling some Pacific-fresh seafood, his next stop is The Crab Pot. Here, fried fish lovers devour the Captain’s Combo, an overflowing plate of shrimp, cod, halibut, clam strips, and calamari.

Hopefully Adam saves some room for this week’s challenge: the Southwestern Exposure at Beth’s Cafe. Open since 1954, Beth’s is a Seattle institution. The challenge is a 12-egg omelet filled with cheddar cheese, sour cream, salsa, and beef brisket chili. Normally, only one person takes on this challenge at a time, but Adam is going head to head with someone who has already defeated this breakfast behemoth. The first to finish the omelet wins. Does Adam have what it takes to beat one of Seattle’s best eaters?

Man vs Food is on Wednesdays at 10pm on the Travel Channel.

Check out This is Why You’re fat here. I want you to look at this site and tell me if some of it doesn’t look desish and some of it doesn’t gross you out. Which ones? I want to know which ones you’d actually eat. I’d like to try the deep fried coca cola.

Did you miss us yesterday? We had some server problems but we’re up and running again. Needless to say before I knew we were having server problems I pretty much freaked out when I couldn’t access the site. I honest to goodness thought I had done something to break it and it was gone. Gone, gone. Start from scratch, gone. But thanks to my fabulous, web developer husband we found where the problem was and got tech support to fix it. Now when I saw we, I mean he fixed it. Phew.

Has that ever happened to you guys? Site breaks and you freak out for a good hour or two before you find the problem and know it can be fixed? Please tell me I’m not the only one.

Welcome to Blog the Day Away. We wanted a place where not only we could talk about our favorite TV shows and books (and all things media) but you could post too. So if you’ve seen a movie or finished a book that you would love to share your opinion on send one of us an email with a blog post and we’ll get it on BTDA for you. Feel free to include a photo or link to a video to imbed.

Also, we are really excited about Twilight Sisters. As you probably all know we are huge Twilight fans (well, Stephenie Meyer fans to be exact). We wanted a place where we could discuss the books with our friends. We also wanted to join a fan club but weren’t interested in joining one where we didn’t know anybody so we came up with the idea of Twilight Sisters. To join all you need to do is send one of us an email with your picture and a quick synopsis of why you love the series. You could also send either/or and we’ll still get you on our Twilight Sisters page.

This is going to be so much fun!!

OK, this is a request to you to tell me your favorite blogs that you read. Currently I’m mostly reading friends sites and haven’t ventured out into the big wide blogging world. That changed recently with Cake Wrecks (which has a hilarious one on there right now) and now with a couple of new sites.

The first one is another one from Clisty. Keep ‘em coming please. It’s thepioneerwoman.com Now the name of this site turned me off at first but I thought I’d give it a try. It’s a really quaint, witty, hip site about a woman who lived in LA then fell in love with a rancher who she calls Marlboro Man and now lives on his cattle ranch. She takes fabulous pictures and I haven’t checked it out but she has a whole recipe section too. Clisty says it can get a little boring but I’ll check it out.

Then, Summer sent me a link to a company that makes greeting cards with “Mormon” sayings in them. lineuponlinecards.com I hope they meant for these cards to be funny because they tickled me. One of the ones that caught my attention was: “Wishing you ANOTHER YEAR to make the most of your PROBATIONARY STATE”. I wish I knew what the makers motivation is. How seriously they take themselves. I definitely wouldn’t subscribe to this one but I might check in every once in a while to get a chuckle.

Summer also sent me, seriouslysoslessed.com. It’s a spoof on Mormon mommy blogs. When I first read it I was totally put off by it because I thought it was serious. ”Modest bikinis!?” But then I caught on. Now I think it’s dang funny. The nice thing is the site is sponsored so they currently have a pretty nice give away going on. You should check it out.

Please send me links to your favorite blogs. I’m having so much fun extending my blogging circle.
