My very first Mothers Day as a wife I was (of course) pregnant with our first child.  I woke up that Sunday, rolled over and asked my husband if I was getting breakfast in bed before church.  “Why?” he asked, still somewhere between REM and Consciousness.  “Because it’s Mothers Day!” I replied somewhat indignantly, because Hel-lo he helped me shop for HIS mom’s gift like less then twelve hours ago.  “But you’re not a Mother. . . . . .yet” he tacked that last part on as an afterthought, since he realized I was approaching dangerous hormone levels.  “Every WOMAN is a MOTHER- even if SHE doesn’t HAVE children YET, and I SHOULD BE HONORED AS SUCH. . . . . . by getting breakfast in bed.”  Now he was fully awake, and being the smart husband that he is, he rolled out of bed and made me a bowl of Captain Crunch cereal.

Most of my Mothers Day’s have been pretty much the same since.  He can do Birthdays and Anniversary’s, but there is no forethought to Mothers Day with him.

Now we come back to the present, and after I took about a minute to come out of my state of shock at being asked such a question, before Mothers Day, I said, “This Mothers Day I want to be left alone all day- I don’t want to do ANYTHING.  I want to FORGET that I’m even a mother.  I want to sleep till noon, have my meals of chocolate and soda pop mysteriously appear in my bed, read Jane Austen till I’m speaking in Olde English, and then blog stalk till I fall asleep on the keyboard.  That’s what I want for Mothers Day.”   Without missing a beat my husband said, “but we have church at 9.”

Well, so, I was asking a little much- but I thought the one thing I really need on Mother’s Day is a good laugh- and so, with that in mind, I asked the other girls here to contribute blog’s they love to laugh with- written by other women, because after all, “we’re all Mother’s even if we don’t have children yet!”

So my question for you is does the ground always come up at you when you get new glasses.  It does for us.  I guess maybe it’s a depth perception thing but it would be a funny addition to his act to walk around like he can’t tell where the ground is.  Funny to me at least.
