Survivor Tocantins: The Martyr Approach

I want to preface this post by saying: I wrote this Friday morning, on an airplane. I didn’t have internet access to post it until now… and yes, I have seen the Finale! I intentionally left everything exactly as I wrote it 3 days ago, although let’s just say, I found it very interesting how my opinion could change in just one episode. Enjoy, and another post will soon follow.

Well, it finally happened. Coach is gone. And after wanting him to leave for the last 4 or 5 weeks, I’m embarrassed to say that I’m actually going to miss him and his ridiculous-ness! Honestly, every episode he made me laugh so hard. And last night I finally realized why. He reminds me of Michael Scott. Did you notice his monologue at Exile? Let me paraphrase…”blah blah blah… I’m like my ancient Native American Ancestors who go out into the wilderness to become a man… Except I’m already a man… So, I’m going to become a better man.” You can script it better than that!

I also loved that Coach thought the game would finally be played honestly. Hello, all 5 left have lied at some point. And that’s how you play the game. I just wish I could see the players’ reactions watching the show after the fact.

Ultimately, I was glad the Stephen decided to go with Coach over Erinn. Erinn won’t stand a chance if she even makes the finals.

So, look at that! My 3 favorites made the final 4! I really think Stephen has played the best game and deserves to win, but I would be happy if it was JT or Taj. How about you?

American Idol: Top 3 Results

picture-5I loved the hometown visits. It’s so fun to watch these guys go from being the “guy next door,” to a major celebrity… practically overnight. And at this point, at least, they’re so humble and grateful.

So, did anyone else watch the entire show? (I rarely do…) But this was probably the most intense I’ve ever seen American Idol get. It was so great watching the judges get on their feet and be completely shocked when it was Kris who was saved first. I think for a second, the audience didn’t know if Adam was going to be saved. And what’s better than that- seeing Adam look unsure for the first time as well.

So, as much as it was Danny’s time to go, I did not expect to be so emotional about it. I actually cried… real tears! (Maybe I shouldn’t admit that?) His “You Are So Beautiful” was heart-wrenching. I think he definitely has the opportunity to have a great career. (I will definitely be buying at least one of his songs…)

I would have bet money on Adam being the next American Idol, but Ryan said it- Kris is the only one who has NEVER been at the bottom. So, I think he really has a chance! At this point, I don’t really care who wins. But I’m excited to see who it is! Who are you rooting for?

American Idol: Top 3 Perform

picture-2I thought that was a great night! There were a few little things here and there that I could critique, but overall, it was awesome! I know I’ve been saying this for a while, but this is the best top 3 American Idol has ever seen!

After round 1, I thought Adam had it in the bag. He blew Danny and Kris out of the water. (I still think he’s too much… and I can’t stand watching him stick his tongue out when he screams high notes.) But I can’t deny that he’s got talent.

I actually thought Kris did a nice job on “Apologize,” but I completely agree with what Simon said. If you give a guy a song, and tell him to sing it, you can’t criticize him for singing it!! He and Danny both did AWESOME on their second songs. Honestly, that was probably one of my favorite arrangements (EVER) of “You are so beautiful.” And I could have been listening to Kris’ “Heartless” on the radio!

I can’t help but wonder how much one person might be helped (or hindered) by the judges song choice, and/or by their order. Of the 3 left, Adam has sung last the most. And, personally, I think it gives him an edge. People generally remember the last one. And the first song that Danny sang didn’t really do much for me. I blame that on Paula. If they make such a fuss over song choice, they had better pick a good song. And not only that, but I think it’s a disservice to give 2 of the guys a well-known song, and the other one gets a song only our mothers know.

Ultimately, it’s down to the end, and I honestly think any one of them could go tonight. But if it were my choice, I think Danny should go. Adam and Kris have proven all along that they deserve to be in the finals. What do you think?

America’s Next Top Model: Take me to the jungle

America's Next Top ModelI’m just going to skip straight to the point today- yeah the dancing was pretty bad (and pointless really) but holy crap I want to hire a makeup/hair artist and have them exactly replicate Allison’s look this week.  Where would I wear that too?  The grocery store?  I don’t really care- I absolutely was in love with it this week.  The color!  The setting! and then Tyra goes and prints the photos in Sepia!?!  I’m not a photographer, so maybe I’m just missing something.  Please someone set me straight, because this was one of the first times I couldn’t wait for panel just to see the photos, and then it was like. . . .what?  Still gorgeous, but not at all what I was expecting.

So Celia is finally gone- I’ve been waiting for the end to come for weeks.  Did I think she did anything wrong?  No- but she’s just too old.  Who’s really going to hire someone that’s already hitting the end of their career, before they’ve even begun?  Allison absolutely blew me away this week, so I’ll stop my attack on her.  When she told Tyra, “you’re so pretty.”  I died a little for her- haven’t we all been in a situation like that?  Right?  I have my own little embarrassing story, that makes me blush just thinking about it.

American Idol: Top 4 Results

41918Well, it looks as “the only hope for the girls” is out. I honestly can’t say that I’m too surprised. Of the top 4, she was in the bottom 3 more than any of them. The judges mentioned so many times that she was young, and she didn’t show much personality. But I think it just came down to who she was left with at the end… a flaming, over-the-top Adam, the cute guy next door Kris, and the poor widower Danny. Honestly, I don’t think she stood a chance in getting votes!

I missed the actual show. (And read a blog with the play-by-play.) But it sounded like I didn’t miss much… especially an outdated, cleavage-exposed Paula, lip-syncing. HA!

So, this is a first for American Idol… an all male top 3! I didn’t think he had a chance in the beginning, but I’m rooting for Kris all the way now! I think he has a great voice, always does his own thing, and I would definitely listen to his stuff! Who are you rooting for now that Allison is gone?

American Idol: Top 4 Perform

contestantsRock is always an interesting genre, because you either have it or you don’t. Of course, Adam and Allison were totally in their element. (Proven by their AWESOME duet!) And Matt and Danny looked like they were trying SO hard to be rockers.

Adam rocked it, of course. However, I was just not as excited as the judges. I just don’t like his sound. In listening to him sing last night, I realized I will never buy his album. And to me, that’s who I root for- someone who’s music I will buy and listen to as I sit here and blog. (Sorry to all the Adam fans… you’re totally allowed to disagree with me.)

I loved Allison. And I think her “not-so-great” critiques were partly due to the fact that she went right after Adam. I still thought she did great, and I hope she sticks around tonight.

Kris was okay… and so was Danny. I actually thought Danny was great, until his screaming note. In his practice video, I thought it could have been awesome. But, it did NOT turn out the way he practiced… So, I don’t really know what to think.

The judges seemed to think that Danny was safe, but honestly, I don’t know. I think it could be anyone going home tonight! If it were based on last night’s performances only, I think Kris or Danny should go. But, I’m a huge Kris fan now, so I really want him to make it. (He is someone whose album I would buy!)

Either way, I think all 4 have potential careers ahead of them… good luck to all!

New York GOes to WOrk

70x53This might be my one and only post for this one- I don’t think I’ll be series recording it on Tivo.  The concept was funnier then the actual show I think.  I have been faithfully watching the previews (and voting I might add) in great expectation of watching New York make a complete fool out of herself.  When I found out she was to become a Pest control person I about lost my mind at how funny this was going to be- and then. . . it wasn’t funny.  I know they had to set up challenges for her- so I was ok with it feeling fake, but it felt too contrived.  The girls (with the snake in their backyard) were the final straw for me.  I’m sorry, two teenagers in full make up and slutty attire with a stupid story about a giant yellow snake that “just about ate my dog”?  In reality they would have called one of their f*** buddies to take care of the problem, not pest control.  Then the fact that the boss gave New York the check, even though she freaked out every step of the way (and didn’t even complete the last challenge) was stupid.  I’ve been loving the New York franchise so I’m a little upset at this one.  What did you guys think?

I Love Money: Finale

03NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. . . . .I have nothing against Myamee, I really don’t- but I was really, really hoping someone else would take it.  It was pure luck, and her reliance on her alliance that carried her through.  I thought Tailormade did the most to put himself in a position to win the money.  He’s a really great game player.  Then we come to It- he had me fooled for about a minute, until he hit the trail and lost his “x-ray” vision.  Maybe VH1 can spare a few bucks and get the guy a new pair of glasses.  I loved that they didn’t even set up another board for him- like they knew he wasn’t even going to complete the task.  What did you guys think of the finale?  Did it live up to all your expectations?

You can Watch I Love Money 2 at this link VH1

Daisy of Love: Here’s Blood in your eye

daisy-of-love-ep102Please VH1- I beg of you- I do not want to watch grandmothers in complete old people attire slapping the A$$ of complete tools.  It’s not only disturbing, but a hazard to my unborn child’s health- it is absolutely impossible to keep down one’s lunch when being subjected to that.

Thank you for your consideration.

Now, I don’t know which was better- watching flipper quite literally “flip out,” or watching Brooklyn drunk dial his girlfriend (so obviously NOT his “ex”) without realizing there’s something called “caller ID.”  I loved the montage of all the guys answering the phone.  I think this group of guys might just be a bigger mess then Brett Michaels skanks(I did say “might”).  Brooklyn skates by on pure luck- although clearly his and Daisy’s situations are not the same, and we watch Whiskey Weasel, and Professor(I already forgot about him) get the boot.  I’m thinking Chi Chi (so appropriately named I might add) might be the next to go- he’s dangerously skating close to friendship zone with Daisy.  Speaking of Chi Chi’s- was anyone else surprised Daisy didn’t like Fox’s completely inappropriate gift?  It seemed right up her alley (pun intended) to me.

Survivor Tocantins: They Both Went Bananas

sierra-faceWell, as usual, Coach has me baffled. He’s a total liar. He’s full of himself. He’s completely delusional and ridiculous. And unfortunately, he got lucky and won immunity. Dang it! This would have been the best time to blindside the guy. *sigh*

And again, I just can’t believe all the crap Sierra gets. Could you believe how Coach and Debbie acted? They were scrambling to get numbers, and they both freaked out at Sierra saying she wasn’t loyal. Hello?! They tried to vote her out! Even though they did send her home, I was at least happy that Stephen and JT realized what a fraud Coach is. (He’s gotta go before it’s too late…)

Honestly, I think Stephen is running the game. Everyone loves JT, but he’s sittin’ pretty because everyone likes him. Taj hasn’t done much lately, and same with Erinn. And speaking of Erinn, why did she vote for Stephen? I have no idea what she was thinking.

I guess we all knew Sierra was going to go at some point. I was just hoping they could have used her another week for numbers against Coach and Debbie. Then again- maybe that will help Coach will feel safe and they can blindside him next week…

ANTM: Let’s go see the city!

America's Next Top ModelYou’ll have to indulge me for a moment- “Fo is no mo’!”  I’ve been waiting to say that for weeks.  Yes she’s adorable- but did I think she had what it takes to model?  No.  Too many insecurities, not a single designer wanted to sign her, and she had a really weird photo shoot.

What did you guys think of the go-see’s?  I was a little irritated with Celia.  I’m obsessively punctual, so I never understand when people find it acceptable to be “right on time” for something.  If you know you’re going to be eliminated if you’re not on time- then aim for at least five minutes early.

America's Next Top Model

Don’t you think the girls universally do badly when Nigel shoots them?  The only redeeming factor for me was the fat guy in the speedo- cracked me up.  I loved how they put red paint on his cheeks to make him look like he was blushing- very funny.  The best bit was when Nigel tried to help Celia out by showing her how to pose with him- it looked a little like male bear porn.

Sorry for the visual.

It looks like Teyonna may have this whole competition in the bag- the designers love her, obviously the judges love her, so it’ll probably end up being a showdown between her and Allison(and Allison’s runway will oust her).

What do you guys think?

American Idol: Top 5 Results

picture-2Well, I don’t have much to say… except FINALLY!!! America got it right!! And they got it right all around. I thought Adam deserved the bottom (for once!) but I never thought I’d actually see him there. Were you as shocked as me to see Adam in the bottom?!

Overall, I think this is probably the best top 4 American Idol has ever seen. So, truthfully, I am quite pleased. I think everyone deserves to be there. And whoever has the best connection with America will win. (Which is how it should be.)

So, so long, Matt. We wish you the best. And good luck to the rest!

The Phone: The Conspiracy

I’m (hopefully this embed worked- if it doesn’t just click on “The Phone” underneath, it’s a link) posting the full episode this week, because I’m completely loving this show.   Holy Cow I couldn’t believe Jason called himself “James Bond” and then asked Kristi if she would be his “Menny Penny” (“no offense,” right).  At least call her a Bond Girl- no girl wants to be Menny Penny, that’s the opposite of what we all want.  It was even funnier because “James Bond” he was not- I felt so bad for Kristi when he was throwing out all those terrible ideas in the bi-plane- I guess it’s partly her fault though, for not standing up for herself more.  She saw the bus first!  She guessed that it might have something to with Washington!  and then she let him tell her she was the stupid one.   Uck.

What did you think about Cassie taking all the money?  I told everyone last week I would have a hard time giving it away- but I think in this instance it would have been a really easy decision.  Joey spotted the bus, he wasn’t so fabulous in the bi-plane, but without him Cassie would never have been able to unfurl the banner.  I’m beginning to realize that the key to winning this show is teamwork, and it would be really unfair to keep all the money.  My heart broke a little for him.

American Idol: Top 5 Perform

picture-10I was pleasantly surprised last night. I thought everyone was awesome! (However, I totally agree with Randy that Matt was pitchy). And I do think it’s Matt’s time to go, but for the first time, I could see any one of them going home. We’re finally down to the point that everyone left can sing. And now it’s up to personality and connection with America.

And I have to apologize to all the Adam fans out there- because last night was the reminder of why I hated him from the beginning. And (almost) everything I was thinking about him the judges said. He was theatrical, he was WAY over the top, and he was SO arrogant! I actually rolled my eyes and groaned out loud as he held that screaming note for about 5 seconds before he ended the song. Ugh! For the first time, I held a little glimmer of hope as he did that- and I thought, maybe America will agree with me and Danny, Allison, or Kris has a chance… (Does anyone agree with me?)

Allison kicked butt!! I totally agree with what Simon said. I think she has just been overshadowed by the other “over-the-top” personalities. And Kris was awesome (I’m a huge fan now), but I agree with Simon in that it was not his best. And Danny rocked it! Finally! The Danny that I loved from the beginning is back. The judges had it spot-on. All he needed to do was come out with a little bit of confidence. I loved it!

If I had to pick my top 2 last night, it would actually be Danny, then Allison. I definitely think Matt should go- but who knows! Since the bottom 3 will make up for more than half of who’s left, we’ll see!

The Hills: i’ve always had a little crush

the_hills_cast_whitebgYou guys know how excited I’ve been for my favorite soapreality show to begin, so you may wonder why I haven’t been blogging about it.  This season has just not been as fabulous as in seasons passed.   Let me rant a little.

The Speidi drama just makes me sick, and I have to admit I have no idea what’s going on with them since I fast forward as soon as they come on the screen- and I refuse to read or watch any TMZ articles about their relationship.

Audrina’s an emotionless slut- plain and simple.  Flying to Hawaii for a Brody hookup?  I just have lost all respect for the pair of them(not that I really had much to begin with, I mean let’s get real here).

How did Stephanie weasel her way into a part in the show?  and how is she maintaining relationships with people she has clearly lied to over and over (LC)?  I may have stopped watching already if I didn’t have a running bet with my husband to see how many episodes it would take until she’s fired.

Now that my favorite in the cast of characters, Whit, is gone, that just leaves Lo and LC- who are really without drama and sort of just act as commentators this season.  Very upsetting to me.  How are you guys holding out?  Am I just getting too old for this crap?  Are you as disengaged as me?

I Love Money: Big Boobs, Big Bucks

08Someone tell me how I get a job coming up with new challenges for VH1 game shows.  Those giant boobs were about the funniest things ever(I’m thinking White Elephant gift next Christmas?)- as a busty women myself, I was completely sympathizing.  Watching It and Tailormade get strangled by giant fake breasts as they flailed about in the water just about did me in.  I was super upset Prancer won the challenge, she’s probably my least favorite of the contestants left.  I was hoping for a battle between Saaphira, Frenchy, and It- I thought that would be a perfect showdown of stupidity.  Unfortunately Frenchy didn’t play her cards right in the power outing, and made herself out to be a threat.  What did you guys think of the preview for next week?  Has It just been playing us all along and he’s really not as dumb(and blind) as we all think he is?  I’d love for him to give Tailormade a run for his money as mastermind of the show- but after his stint on I Love New York, I have my doubts.

Daisy of Love

daisy-1I wasn’t going to watch this- I swear I wasn’t.  Daisy drove me slightly crazy on Rock of Love- but then they did a sneak peek earlier in the day and  I saw early eighties hair, Twelve Pack from I Love New York,  and lot’s and lot’s of fighting.  As my husband said, Vh1 has hit an all time low- Ok I’m in.

I love that Ricky is helping host this one- possibly one of the funniest hosts ever, even though I think he might be in love with Daisy himself.  At any rate, I just love how brutally honest he is with the guys, he says exactly what the rest of us are thinking.

Now, quick run down of the guys- possibly the worst assortment of ugly rockers I’ve ever seen.  Who even bothered to cast the Swedish triplets?   84, 85, 86, so funny.  We knew they were headed for the door before they even opened their mouths.  So obviously a favor from someones agent, and they just came out looking like tools- anyone remember the name of their band?  No peeking!  Speaking of bands- do I really think this show is to help Daisy find love?  or is it a ploy to promote herself?  Judging by the opening sequence I would say the latter.

What do you guys think of Twelve Pack being back?  I really think he’s here to promote himself and thought it’d be bonus if he got a little lovin’ from Daisy along the way.  Which is probably the objective of half the guys- you can count on one hand the number of guys that didn’t head straight for the bar as soon as Daisy left the scene.  Can I say that I was really happy Weasel the “Brett Michaels” lookalike didn’t get the boot right away?  I always love it when there’s so obviously an underdog in the mix.  Doesn’t he remind you of Entertainer in ten years?  ”Weasel” probably lives with his parents, has some dead end job, and came on the show for free food and beer.   A perfect match for Daisy right?

Speaking of a perfect match- what was up with “Fox”?  He looked like a greasy car salesman to me- definitely not hot, and Daisy was literally drooling all over him.  Then when he opened his mouth to talk! What the?!?!  I hope he does something really wrong, really quick, so I don’t have to watch anymore of their nasty make-out sessions.

Really great elimination ceremony- loved how completely clueless Weasel was while he stood there with crap written all over his face.  Knew Dropout was on his way out, when she called him goofy- and of course Torch had to go.  I actually think he may have been high the whole time- who makes dolphin noises at their date?

This is the first time I haven’t seen any absolute standouts for winning- maybe the guy she calls “six gauge”?  It was much more obvious the guys that will be leaving almost immediately.  Any standouts for you guys?

The Office: Broke

Well, I was SO happy with this episode! I feel like episodes recently haven’t been as funny as usual. But the last couple weeks have been great episodes- up there with some of the best.

First, wasn’t it the best to see Charles sucking up to David Wallace? I just love Jim’s reaction- and his 4 second kissing noise. And even better to see Charles realize (in front of Wallace) what an idiot Dwight is. Speaking of idiots, does anyone else totally want Jim’s ring tone of Dwight saying “idiot, idiot, idiot?”

But, beyond that, Jim is my hero! I loved how he basically got everyone’s jobs back. And without having to lie about it. And by making Dwight look more like an idiot. He just had to get Michael to realize what to do and not be an idiot as well. (Apparently, idiots are the theme this week.) But Michael definitely gets props this week too… A. For not succumbing to temptation and admitting he was broke. And B. For realizing how much more important it is for them to have jobs instead of $20,000! I can’t wait to see how things fall back in place, and especially to see how Pam does as a saleswoman. (Everything’s right in the world again!)

Watch The Office with me Thursday night at 9pm PST, on NBC.

ANTM: Brazil!

America's Next Top ModelSorry I’ve been a little MIA with this one lately, especially since they had one of my favorite photo shoots ever a couple of weeks back (the one that looked like they had all been in a paintball fight- the pictures were stunning).

I was so unbelievably happy to see Natalie go home this week- Celia was right on when she told her she complains too much.  I was so tired of listening to her whine, she quite literally spent most of the competition sounding like a spoiled brat.  I could not believe that she tried to blame her bad photo on Jay!!!  Liar, Liar, pants on fire!!!  I actually rewound just to make sure she was lying, and sure enough- Jay gives her great critique, but never once tells her to “hold that pose forever.”  I’m not Aminat’s biggest fan, but she was the least of two evils in my opinion.

Did anyone else have “The Girl from Ipanema” stuck in their head for the entire show?   Here was another point I was annoyed with Natalie on(and then I’ll stop),  she was like, “Brazil is not what I’d thought it’d be.”  OK I’m sorry, seriously?  Who goes to Brazil and gets to meet the girl that inspired a famous song, practice Capoeira, and then dress up like an icon and take photos in favela(a place most tourists will never get to see?)- and this is only in the first week!

Ok off my high horse- Natalie is gone.  I was seriously impressed by Allison this week, and as you all know I am not a fan of hers.  I loved the expressions she was giving the camera, and totally thought Nigels critique of her was correct.  She was the perfect mix of goofy and sexy- and I think she was the only one that understood the vibe of Carmen Miranda.

This episode had a little bit of drama in it- the ongoing fight between Celia and Aminat (the kick to the face really did look like an accident, although I don’t think I could have helped giggling a little bit either, if I was Celia).  Then the high school drama between Fo and Teyona.  I think Fo is being overly sensitive about not being picked last week to join the photo shoot- I’m just going to say it again, I hate that all the contestants think they’re making lifelong friends in these competitions.  It’s a competition- they want to win just as badly as you do.  Her “I’m picking you because you’re my biggest competition,” was crap.  She’s still upset, and she needs to get over it.  Enough said.

So we’re getting down to the wire now- any favorites among the bunch?  I’m sort of rooting for Allison, now that Fo has become so vindictive and immature.

ANTM is on the CW Wed.s at 8pm

American Idol: Top 7 Results

picture-7picture-8Well, at least 2 of the 3 I picked to go home actually went home. I just could NOT believe that Allison was in the bottom! And below Matt?! Apparently the save was actually useful…. I wonder who’s more mad at Matt for staying in their place- Lil’ or Anoop. :)

I really don’t have much else to say, except that if Allison doesn’t do something soon, she’s going home! Ultimately, as long as Matt goes next, I don’t really care who goes after that. I think the best ones are Adam, Kris, Allison, and Danny.

And I wasn’t going to say anything… but did anyone watch the whole show? I had to turn it off during the old-timer disco singers! I don’t care who you were- if you don’t have the voice, body, or moves, don’t do it!! Please tell me I wasn’t the only one who thought the entire show consisted of the worst acts I’ve seen in American Idol history! (Even David Archuleta sounded terrible…)
