The Biggest Loser

lsr_716_06Hey Everyone- I’m doing the review today and I know I’m just not as thorough as Alisa, so bear with me!

Can I start off by saying I have never giggled so much watching Biggest Loser as I did last night.  I didn’t even fast forward through any of it, that’s how entertained I was.

Ok first things first, I was completely shocked that Jillian came in and talked to Tara- Jillian just never seems that compassionate to me (although I personally like her better then Bob- I’m just throwing that out there, sorry Alisa).  I was so glad she did though, because I seriously felt like slapping Tara.  Jillian was right on, Tara was just being selfish and I was really glad that the teams decided to send Laura home last week.  Especially in the end when we found out how well she was doing.  Tara has been slowly dropping in my opinion every week.

The trivia challenge cracked me up to no end- eight servings in that tiny pizza?  Ron thinking that Trans fat free butter was healthier then olive oil?  Kristens comments throughout, and then her ending poke at Mike about his age.  It was just all so funny.  Then my favorite part, only because I had been scoping them out at Costco yesterday morning- Bob talking about how people think fish sandwiches are so much healthier and he’s like, “People! you might as well have a potpie!”   Dude, the Marie Callenders Potpies are the BOMB, and they have them in six packs at Costco now.

Ok, then on to the cage challenge.  I swear I love Filipe- his trash talking was so funny.  Poor Helen though, first she has to deal with Filipe shaking the cages all over the place, and then she desperately tries to beat Tara in a battle of wills.  I felt so sad for her, especially when she was pleading with Tara to let her win.  I’m glad Tara said no, I have a feeling Helen would have stabbed her in the back and taken the pound.

I was so glad Mike finally confronted his Dad about his weight issues.  Mike and Ron really bug me- but I was happy to see some closure there.  I was so angry at elimination with how smug they both were.  Please, Please, next week let one of them land in the bottom two, preferably Mike.

Where you surprised Mike voted for Kristen?  I wasn’t at all- especially at his interview last week when he told us he didn’t really want to save her, instead of Laura.  I knew first chance he got she would be gone.  Who’s your ideal final four?  I would have loved to see Kristen, Filipe, Tara, and Helen- but now that that’s not possible, I’m hoping Ron stabs himself in the foot and ends up there- minus his son.

The Biggest Loser is on NBC Tuesdays at 8pm

The Phone: Episode 1

43“Holy Crap. . .Holy Crap….Holy Crap!”   Basically this was the mantra in my head while I watched the premiere episode last night.  Unbelievably great new game show on MTV, I swear if I was ten years younger (and without children) I would be all over this.  Did you watch it?  If you didn’t, here’s the link because it’s worth watching online- especially if you’ve ever been to Seattle.  How freakin’ awesome was it to watch all those tourist traps become sets for destruction? The show is “hosted” by a very James Bondish guy only known as “the operator.”  He sends two teams on a wild goose chase through the streets and harbors of Seattle, having them complete challenges and missions along the way to try and stop a terrorist from causing mass destruction.

The beginning of the show seriously(and literally) started off with a bang- I loved watching the guys try and get the girls to stop doing their tasks and get the heck out of there before the “police” arrived.  Meenas face while Joel was yanking on her arm to get out of there was the perfect combination of, “This is just a bad dream,” and “what did I get myself into- I have to laugh this is so ridiculous.”  I was bugged by them in the beginning because they just looked so dumb wandering around the dock clueless.  It just goes to show you what a great show it is though since I ended up yelling at the screen for them to figure it out.

I was totally rooting for Delvaughn and Danielle and was really sad for them when they couldn’t find the other key- completely shocked too because I didn’t think there was any chance for Joel and Meena to catch up.  I have this super fear of confined spaces, so watching that hold compartment slam shut and then slowly fill with water freaked me the heck out.  Then to have the fish swimming all around your feet, creepy.

The run through pike place made me laugh a little because it felt fake, really unlike the rest of the show.  I felt like the “bomber” was totally waiting up for them- and I could tell it was just a set up for the next challenge.  I was just so annoyed with Meena for going so slow.  It was quite literally a game of “simon says” so should have been a walk in the park, especially with the two of them helping each other.

They at least redeemed themselves in my eyes with the Space Needle challenge.  I almost started crying when they did some of those wide shots of Joel hanging over the edge- I can be ok with heights, but there is no way I could have handled climbing the needle like Meena did.  Ack!  I was giggling like crazy at the tour guide giving them the rundown as the were going up the elevator.  I had totally forgotten that it might be important at the end.

I was really happy Joel ended up sharing the money with Meena, I’m really not sure I would have made the same decision- even if we were a “team” I think I would have just had a hard time giving a stranger half of my winnings.  What would you guys have done?

The Phone is new on Mtv Tuesday Nights at 10pm

American Idol: Top 7 Again!

picture-13Well, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised last night. Disco night is usually terrible in my mind, but almost everyone did something a little different that it didn’t even feel like Disco night.

Lil’ started out the night… and I initially had a little hope for her. But she just doesn’t make anything her own. The girls still has a great voice… but as soon as Kris stared singing, it was apparent why the judges keep saying the same thing to Lil’. Kris did awesome! I absolutely LOVED his version. And it was so obviously him. Has has definitely moved up into my “favorites” category. (Had Lil’ sung after Kris, I think they would have been a lot meaner about it.) I did feel bad for her. She hasn’t gotten a nice critique in weeks.

To be honest, I actually agreed with (almost) everything the judges said last night. Allison has a great voice, but her song didn’t wow me. Anoop can sing, but I still think he’ll be in the bottom. Matt can sing- although I thought he had the same problem as Lil’. It just felt like a disco song. Adam rocked it… like usual. The only one I didn’t agree with was Danny. I like the guy. He can sing. But, I’ve gotten over his sad story. And he doesn’t have much personality anymore. He can sing, but I was not nearly as impressed as the judges were. Ultimately, like they said, I’m just so glad that all of the top 7 are great singers!

I definitely think the bottom 3 should be the same- Matt, Lil’, and Anoop. (And I think Matt and Lil’ should go.) We’ll see if it last week’s save was even worth it.

Amazing Race: Our Parents Will Cry Themselves to Death

THE AMAZING RACE 14If anyone had an advantage this week it was definitely Tammy and Victor! However, because of the luck of the game, it didn’t seem to help them out much. Their cab driver didn’t know where he was going, Tammy got some lame birds, and 2 other teams followed right behind as they were doing their Chinese writing detour. (They would have been so lost without T and V.) I think that’s the only thing I don’t like about the game- how much luck is involved. At least 3 teams finished together. And it’s going to make for a very tight race next week!

And, of course, I cannot ignore the “battle” between Luke/Margie and Jen/Kisha. First of all, it was clearly BOTH of their faults. Some pushing and shoving is bound to occur when 2 people charge a route marker at the same time! (And when I watched the 7 replays, it seemed like one run-in was Jen’s fault, and the other was Luke’s.) However, despite the battle, what happened at the pit stop was blown out of proportion! Phil was nice and let each of them tell their own story. And when Kisha and Jen laughed while Luke was talking, Margie flipped out! I can understand where she’s coming from. She’s been protecting her son his whole life from bullies. But, I do NOT think Jen and Kisha were laughing at Luke. When I’m stressed or nervous, I laugh! And even Phil thought it was innocent. It really bothers me when people assume the worst, and play the victim. As sad as this is, this was the straw for me rooting for Margie and Luke. What do you think?

I think Mark and Michael were doomed from the beginning. Depending on the leg of the race, and where the next destination is, a 4 hour penalty can definitely be made up. But not this time. There were so many flights to China, and both tasks seemed to “reasonably” quick. I’m definitely glad they went home.

My favorites now are Tammy and Victor, and Jaime and Cara. Every team has done something to bother me at some point, but I think Tammy and Victor play the game the best. Although I do really want an all-girl team to win at some point!

Watch Amazing Race, Sunday at 8pm PST, on CBS.

American Idol: Top 7 Results

ai8top7Well, I’ll cut right to it! No one went home!! The judges have been talking about using a “save” for awhile. If someone ends up in the bottom that they feel deserves another chance, they’ll let them stay in the competition one more week. (They only had 2 weeks left to use it.)

The bottom 3 were Anoop, Lil, and Matt. (Which I thought was 100% the right people). It’s getting to the point that even the good singers are in the bottom because there are only 7 people left! But did you see how pissed Lil looked standing there? It’s actually kind of sad… I just don’t think she understands why she’s in the bottom.

It ended up being Matt at the bottom, who sang for his life, and the judges were discussing the entire time what to do. (I think Simon knew from the beginning he was going to save him.) However, now that he’s saved, 2 will go home next week. I kinda feel like Matt is still going home… he just gets a chance to sing once more. And sadly, as Simon put it, next week is Disco week! This will be a true test of who can sing anything, and who can make something their own!

Parks and Recreation

nup_134212_1214If you don’t know, this is a new comedy created by the people who bring us The Office. I have a few first impressions, but I won’t say too much.

I found it amusing, and I laughed quite a few times. But my only issue so far is that it is TOO much like The Office. It has the same writing style, no laugh track, and documentary feel where the characters look at the camera. I could even pinpoint which characters were “Michael Scott,” ” Jim,” “Pam,” etc. I do like Amy Poehler, but I guess I was expecting something different.

I’m going to give it a few more weeks to see what I think. Did anyone else watch? What did you think?

Parks and Recreation airs Thursdays on NBC, at 8:30 pm PST.

Survivor Tocantins: Dragon Slayer

SURVIVOR: TOCANTINSI actually don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard watching a Survivor episode. Coach and Tyson were the standouts for me. Although I’ve been annoyed at Coach for most of the game, now I just find him entertaining. I think meditating is great- and totally works. But to me, it’s quite spiritual. And when someone does it for show (like Coach was doing) doesn’t that completely defeat the purpose? Oh Coach… And does he really believe all the crap that comes out of his mouth? The Dragon Slayer thing was so funny… and clearly the producers agreed, when they added the lightning effects. Jeff Probst’s take on Coach is quite amusing as well. You can read it here.

As for Tyson… that guy reminds me so much of my brother. His all-too-serious sexual references crack me up. In referring to Brendan and keeping enemies close, Tyson said, “He’s felt my warm, steamy breath on the nape of his neck. Even on the small of his back.” And when he won the challenge, “I kick ass, like I always do. And if any ladies want my phone number… ask.” I was quite proud of him for winning. I thought his shoeless effort might have given him the edge. And, although it may be a given… I was also proud to see that he drank water at the feast, while everyone else had champagne. I would imagine it might be difficult to stick to your standards in a situation like that.

There was quite a lot of scheming going on this week. So much, that I can’t tell who will actually trust and maintain their alliance. I think Brendan and Sierra are the only ones staying faithful to their “cross-tribe” alliance. Clearly, Taj and Stephen have no loyalty to it. I would never trust Coach, and I don’t think Tyson and J.T. can be trusted either. But my favorite moment had to have been after Stephen and J.T. planned to split votes between Brendan and Sierra, (making sure that JT wouldn’t be the one going home), and then Coach took ALL the credit! That guy has one big ego. They’d better blindside him before it gets too late!

In the end, Joe went home for medical reasons. (After all the medical shows I’ve watched, I could have told that guy he might lose his life with an infection like that.) The funny part to me was how sad everyone was that they weren’t going to tribal council! I would have expected people to hide it a little better. I always enjoy the show more after the merge. So, I’m looking forward to all the plotting and scheming to come.

Watch Survivor Thursdays on CBS, at 8pm PST.

Tough Love: Episode 4

281x211There are a couple girls in the house who I’m actually becoming fond of, and I’m so excited for them to find good guys. But there are others who are either not learning a thing, or they seem to be getting worse. Arian! What is up with that girl? It was so sad watching her make a fool of herself in the bar. I can’t imagine having such little respect for myself! I was so proud that all the other girls in the house agreed with Steve. Even if they haven’t learned everything for themselves yet, they can at least see how potentially damaging someone else can turn out.

On a happier note, Taylor wins the “most improved” award! (She was a disaster last week!) And I was so proud of Jacklyn. She has been set up with a great guy, and they have totally hit it off. I really hope it works. And I’m crossing my fingers for Jody too. Although she had a bad end to a date, (who hasn’t?) Steve could at least give reason for what happened. Personally, I think she overreacted about what her date said. I don’t blame her completely… her date needs to learn a few lessons too, but her “freak-out” proved to me why she’s on the show.

The only person I have no clue about is Natasha. (You’re probably thinking “Who’s Natasha?”) Exactly. In the very first episode/challenge, she made no impression on any guy- so much that no one remembered who she was. She hasn’t officially been set up on any dates. (Other than the date challenges). And Steve has never pointed out anything she’s done- good or bad. I think she’s just the “nice girl” who has not met the right guy.

Can’t wait for the conclusion next week- hopefully Arian can get her act together!

American Idol: Top 9 Perform

contestantsDid anyone else think the show started horribly? I was so disappointed with Anoop, and his terrible song. What was it anyway? And I think I fell asleep listening to Megan. She’s not bad- but for 2 weeks now, I haven’t been impressed. I do like both of them, but I think they deserve the bottom 3 this week, along with Matt. Matt can sing, but I cringed listening to and watching him last night.

Now, on to the good stuff! I don’t care what the judges had to say about Allison’s outfit. Vocally, she was amazing! (As usual…) And even though I’m with Alisa on Scott going home, I was finally impressed with him last night! I don’t think he’s anywhere near the other contestants vocally. (I think sympathy votes have kept him in.) And he has terrible technique. With that said, I was so proud that he did well last night. And his makeover definitely helped! I was also amazed at Kris. I thought for sure he’d be gone long ago, because of his lack of personality. But he was one of the best last night! He really has been stepping it up, and totally deserves to be there.

Now, I don’t want to start a fight, but I do not share Alisa’s love for Adam. I cannot stand him. I have wanted him to go since the beginning. However, I can’t deny that the guy can sing!! So, although I’m not on the Adam bandwagon, he definitely deserves to be there. On the reverse side- I am a big Danny fan. But I didn’t agree with the judges. I thought his song was good… but not that great! He looked like he was yelling and straining to reach every note.

The only other one I haven’t mentioned is Lil’. I always think she’s great, but I kind of agreed with the judges about her looking/sounding old-fashioned. However, that girl can still sing! And, I have to mention- when her daughter climbed into Randy’s lap and gave him a hug, that was probably the sweetest, cutest thing I have EVER seen on American Idol. (I seriously almost cried).

My favorites of the night were Allison and Kris. Lil, Adam, Danny, and Scott were all great as well, but didn’t move me. And the others, Anoop, Megan, and Matt, as I’ve mentioned are my pick for bottom 3. Who do you think deserves to go?

The Office: 2 weeks

nup_134264_0109As I was watching The Office (last week… so sorry it’s taken me forever to blog!) I couldn’t decide if Michael was going to retract his “I quit” statement, or possibly get Charles’ job, when he couldn’t handle the people anymore. But, leaving Dunder Mifflin, starting his own paper business, and taking Pam with him?! I could have NEVER guessed that! Some people hate Michael’s character, but to me, he makes The Office. So, I knew there was no way he would leave for good. I have no idea how this will play out, but I’m excited!

I still find it hilarious that Charles doesn’t like Jim. Jim is fun, likable, and does good work. I think even Jim is surprised that he’s not liked. That’s what makes it so great. Jim has never had to try so hard to get someone to like him. And they’re so awkward around each other. Love it!

I don’t have much else to say about the episode, except one of my favorite lines came from Toby. “Michael’s like a movie on a plane. You know it’s not great but it’s something to watch. And then when it’s over, you’re like, how much time is left on this flight. You know, now what?”

Any other favorite moments?

Sadly, no new episode next week. But we get 2 new episodes on April 9th. Watch with me, Thursday at 9pm PST, on NBC.

Survivor Tocantins: The Poison Apple needs to go

1802I’ve always loved Survivor, but I have to say- I’m hooked more than ever. Wasn’t that a gruesome challenge? It was almost too brutal I had to look away. And yet, I loved it! Especially the all-girl round. Not surprisingly so, girls seem to be more vicious to other girls than to guys… And my favorite part was that Timbira led 2-0, and Jalapao came back to win it 3-2! I was literally cheering like I was watching a sporting match. That’s part of the reason I like this season so much. It’s so much more exciting to watch when teams are evenly matched. So, I was so happy to see Timbira take their turn at tribal council.

Another reason I’m loving Survivor- the new twists! Brendan was sent to exile, and got to bring someone from the other tribe. And it’s a good thing he decided to share part of his clue with Taj. He would have never figured out where “tribal homelands” were. But even better than that- it looks like anyone who is sent to Exile Island has a possibility of switching tribes. That in itself will keep this game interesting.

After losing the challenge, I thought Sierra would have gotten her butt back to the beach to look for that hidden immunity idol. But I guess she didn’t have to. In the end, Candace was sent packing. It seems like Coach is running things at camp. If he continues, he’s going to put a target on his back. Maybe something that Taj has done as well, for announcing that her husband is Eddie George. Do you agree?

What do you think? It’s a little early for me, but do you have any favorites yet?

The City: 1 Point Whitney, 0 to Olivia

Sometimes I almost feel bad for Olivia- some of my favorite moments are watching her interact with her coworkers(and Whitney).  I realize there’s probably some very clever editing going on- but how funny was it to watch her superiority at knowing all the editors names, be completely dismissed by Whitney’s hilariously embarrassing story regarding the editor of Vanity Fair?  Olivia has this almost sense of, entitlement, regarding her “friends,” and to watch the usually mellow Whitney putting her in her place (“I always learn something new, every time I’m with you Olivia”) is so fabulous.

normalize_jpegjhtml

I just want to take a second and talk about Allie.  I understand she’s cranky because she’s hungry (I loved when they had that episode showing her and Adam making dinner, but not actually eating it- to prove she’s not anorexic, umm. . .ok) but holy cow this episode she was in total witch mode.  I was already annoyed with her for believing that Adam didn’t really cheat on her(did everyone else believe that “Kiss” was a pseudonym for “Sex,” or was that just me?) but then she convinces Adam to kick Jay out of his own apartment!?!  I can only think that Adam is still feeling guilty for “kissing”  that other girl and wants to appease Allie- which brings me to another little point,

Did you guys see how completely unhappy Whitney looked to be letting Jay move in with her?  Oh Whitney I feel for you, what in the world was she supposed to do in that situation?  Reject your boyfriend in his time of need?  This is not going to turn out well, I can already tell.  Whitney likes her space, and I think is a little old fashioned in her views of living with a boyfriend(as well she should be) so I could tell how much it pained her to say yes.

I also have to mention from this episode, Allie’s makeup in the restaurant scene- I really don’t care that the girl is way too skinny- but please, please, please, someone needs to help that girl with her makeup.  She already looks like an alien, with her tiny lips and gigantic eyes, but then to plaster bright pink blush all over your eyelids, lips, and cheeks was just too much.  She was day-glo ET without the wrinkly skin- Ack!  I’m only sorry I can’t seem to find a photo of it to share.

One more and then I’m done- you guys! did Erin seriously think Duncan was going to call her on New Years?  Really?  After what she said to him when they parted- “every time I see you I’m more in love with you. . . but I don’t think I can do this anymore.”  What the heck is that supposed to mean?  That girl flashes hot and cold with him, and I think he was just sick of playing the game with her (and really who can blame him?).  I’m glad he didn’t call her- give her a little bit of her own medicine.

The City airs on MTV, Mondays at 10pm.

The Bachelor: Overnight Dates in New Zealand

getimgFirst, I have to apologize for not blogging last week. I had an eventful week which kept me from watching last week’s episode until just a few days ago. So, even though there are many things I would have wanted to say, I’ll just say that I thoroughly enjoyed hometown visits, and I think letting Naomi go was the right decision. Now onto last night’s episode…

How lucky are they?! New Zealand is on the top of my “places to visit” list. First, Jason took Jillian on a helicopter ride to a picnic at the edge of a cliff. (I think he’s taken more helicopter rides than any other bachelor!) Second, he took Molly bungee jumping and Melissa to “hot pools.” And, of course, they all spent the night together in the fantasy suites. Now, this brings me to my main question: What happens in the fantasy suite? (I.e. Do you think Jason has sex with any/all of the girls?)

Now, obviously, since Alisa mentioned recently that we’re all Mormon, I don’t believe in having sex before marriage. But, I don’t expect others to agree with me, nor do I condemn those who don’t. However… regardless of your religion, beliefs, and standards, I don’t think it’s ever okay to have sex with more than one person at a time. The girls have to deal with jealousy, watching Jason date and kiss other girls, but dating and kissing are one thing… having sex is another! And the way Jason and Jillian were getting hot and steamy in the hot tub, I find it hard not to imagine them having sex! (I will refrain from quoting The Office!) Sex adds a totally new dimension to the relationship, and I can’t imagine anyone not feeling completely betrayed, being let go after he’s had sex with them.

So, in the end, Jillian went home. I guess I could see it coming… Jason had mentioned multiple times that she was a great friend, but the passion wasn’t there. And being so physically attracted to someone that you can’t keep your hands off them… that’s important too! :) And Jason did feel terrible. He was crying before the rose ceremony began! (But, if there was a chance you might send that person home, wouldn’t you try to abstain for that one night?!) OK, I’ll step down from my soapbox now.

Next week we get 2 hours of “The girls tell all.” Drama, drama, drama. And in 2 weeks… the most dramatic finale in Bachelor history! We will finally get to see what happens when DeAnna shows up!!

American Idol: Hollywood Round 2

Bikini Girl is gone!!! That’s all I have to say about that…

I just LOVE group auditions. I don’t care if you’re there to have a solo career, you’re still going to have to work well with others. Plus, you’re not a diva yet!! Get your egos under control! But man, I thought the judges were tough! Granted, you can’t forget the words, but I still expected them to be a little more lenient. (Why is Tatiana Del Toro still there? The girl with the Fran Drescher laugh?)

I was sad that David Osmond went home, as well as a few other front runners… And WHERE did Joanna Pacitti go? I did some research and found out quite a bit about her former career. Now I’m reminded why I try not to care until I can vote.

Besides Bikini Girl, is there anyone you’re glad to see go?

We continue with Hollywood auditions next Tuesday, 8pm PST on Fox.

American Idol: Hollywood Auditions Round 1

39700So far, I like the changes they are making on American Idol. It seems they are trying harder to inform viewers how the process works, and they’re showing more of the contestants. It helps America get to know the contestants by the time they make it to the voting rounds. You can check out photos and interviews of all the “Hollywood Hopefuls” at www.americanidol.com.

I don’t have a lot to say, because there’s more of Hollywood to come… but I can’t believe Bikini girl (Katrina Darrell, pictured) has made it through again! I don’t know what Simon and Randy are doing. She seriously is not good enough! I will be truly upset if she makes it to the top 36.

Some of my favorites are David Osmond, Joanna Pacitti (who they didn’t show at all, so I don’t know if she made it), and Scott MacIntyre (the guy who’s blind).

Group auditions are tonight! 8pm PST on Fox.

The Office: Stress Relief

One of the things I love about The Office is that you get a little bit of everything- laughter, heartache, satisfaction, fear, and painful awkwardness. But fortunately, laughter generally outweighs them all. And last night’s episode was no different. Dwight pretends to burn down the building in hopes that people will finally listen to him as Safety Officer. Stanley has a heart attack. Pam’s parents separate and are on the verge of divorce. Michael hosts a roast of himself. And we find out how Jim truly feels about Pam. (It was a packed episode!)

I am finding it hard to believe that Dwight can continue working for Dunder Mifflin. For potentially burning down the building, and defacing (literally) the CPR dummy, Dwight received 2 strikes. At least when Michael does stupid things, he makes up for them in other areas.

And, as absolutely random as it was, I loved the side story of Jim, Pam, and Andy watching the pirated movie. And even better, watching Andy mistake the conversations about Pam’s parents for insight into the movie. Andy has become a front runner in my mind for one of the funniest characters on the show.

I did worry a little that whatever Jim said to Pam’s dad was going to cause some drama in their relationship. However, that became my favorite moment, and subsequently, my favorite line. “When you’re a kid, you assume your parents are soul mates. My kids are going to be right about that.” (Pam’s dad leaves her mom when he realizes that he’s never felt about his wife the way Jim feels about Pam.) Sad…

If you’re as big of fan as I am, you’ll be happy to know you only have to wait 3 more days for the next new episode. This Thursday is part 1 of “Lecture Circuit.”

For now, enjoy this deleted scene from “Stress Relief.” You can catch The Office Thursdays, 9pm PST on NBC.

The Bachelor: An episode of kissing!!

19This week on The Bachelor, the girls had to make up love songs to sing to Jason. And whomever Jason chose, they got to go on the one-on-one date. Now, if you were a fan when DeAnna was the Bachelorette, you might remember that the guy DeAnna chose, Jesse, was the same guy she picked in the end. I certainly don’t think that will necessarily happen in Jason’s case, but I do think it shows a lot about a person. (I’m happy Molly won- I really like her!) And, most definitely you will not be picked just because you write the best song… Lauren!

For the group date, Jason took 6 of the girls to the set of General Hospital, where they each got to act out different scenes. And I have never seen so much kissing in my life! Now, I’m a total romantic, but sometimes enough is enough! And between the on-set and off-set kisses, I think we may have seen some of the grossest kisses in Bachelor history. Megan and Shannon! (Maybe that’s why they’re both gone now…)

In the end, it was proven that that not only will a girl not be chosen by her song-writing skills, but she will also not be chosen if she A) Begs for anything… Shannon, B) Demands anything… Lauren, again! or C) Is named Nikki or Megan. I can’t say I was surprised that Nikki and Megan went home. Nikki was just too high-strung, and a control freak. And Megan just wasn’t the right fit. And what is wrong with that? My biggest problem with the girls that go home is that they all seem to have a reason why they weren’t chosen. While there are some that are obviously a little nuts, I think most of them that leave get sent home because there just wasn’t enough there. Attraction, chemistry, whatever. He just didn’t like you enough. And, although it was a little surprising, I’m glad Jason didn’t give out the last rose. If you know she’s not the one- just get it over with!

There are only 5 girls left now; Molly, Melissa, Jillian, Stephanie, and Naomi. I don’t want to influence anyone’s thoughts, so this will be my last proclaimed prediction. I think the final 2 will be Molly and Melissa. However, I have been wrong many times in the past! Tell me what you think.

American Idol: Auditions in Louisville

imagesI apologize for not writing this sooner. I totally forgot that auditions were still happening 2 nights in a row!! I hope for those of you who watch, you’ll still remember it well enough to laugh at all the hilarious auditions.

First of all, I have to mention that the mid-west is a different world. I couldn’t believe all the stereotypical redneck, white trash, small town folks! (Bless their hearts!) It was a nice little reminder of why I will always live near a big city. There’s so much world out there that so many people never know even exists, let alone see! Take our first contestant, Tiffany. Oh, the poor girl. She was terrible. But you can’t really blame her… It’s her parents who have told her she’s wonderful this whole time. In fact, so many of the terrible contestants have been encouraged by parents wearing rose-colored glasses. I firmly believe in helping my child live the dream they want- but if they’re terrible at something, I’ll help them discover something else!

I just want to point out a few memorable auditions: Joanna: has been trying to make it as a singer – I LOVED her and the judges loved her too. Mark: as he was leaving said “be careful” and the judges totally thought he was threatening them. (Hello- that’s just how small town folk talk) Ross: drank out of Paula’s straw! And Rebecca: Happened to be on their local news station, and Kara mentioned that she was voted most humorous in high school and thought she was joking in her audition… apparently not!

Up next: Jacksonville, FL. You can catch American Idol at 8pm PST on Fox. (Tues, Wed, and Thurs)

The Office: Prince Family Paper

If you’re not familiar with The Office, (we need to change that!) then I must mention that the “openers” are usually the funniest 2 minutes of the episode. And occasionally, like last night’s episode, we are treated to yet another prank pulled on Dwight, courtesy of Jim. And although we always know that Jim is behind the pranks, it’s so amusing when he nonchalantly admits it. “Oh, don’t worry. I made it back down.”off_5013_09

I especially enjoy the inside jokes and references to past episodes. For example, when visiting the “Prince Paper,” Michael chooses his undercover name to be Michael Scarn. (Michael first uses that name for himself in Season 2: “The Client” when he writes a screenplay and he is Agent Michael Scarn, the hero.) I think that’s why The Office has such a cult following. You get to see how each character changes over time, how some relationships getter better (Jim and Pam), and how others get worse (Michael and Toby). And you either can’t live without it, or… well, you can.

I love how the most ridiculous things bring the characters together- like having a debate over whether or not Hillary Swank is hot. (I have to say- I’m on the fence). And even though they’re disagreeing the entire episode, it’s still fun (and rare) to see them all interacting at once. It usually only happens when Michael is out of the office.

Look for a special episode of The Office, Sunday Feb. 1st, following the Super Bowl.

Primetime- What would you do?

You guys, I totally feel like I’ve missed the boat on this one.  Have you guys been watching and noone has mentioned blogging about it?  This was on a couple of nights ago and I was totally hooked in- it reminded me of my obsession with the “Predator” specials they had on last year.

The best way to explain the shows concept is through questions- What would you do if someone was drugging another persons drink right in front of you?  or what if someone was stealing gas at the pump?  Do you act?  They basically act out all these different scenarios in front of real people, and then talk about their different reactions.  It was incredibly eye opening.  While I was watching it, it also made me realize how much easier it is for me to say something when I’m by myself, or with my husband- whereas when I have my kids with me I tend to clam up when I see wrongful behavior.  It’s a child preservation thing for me, I don’t want to get into a confrontation with my children right there.

I was most surprised by the drink drugging one- I couldn’t believe that most of the people didn’t say anything.  It sort of reminded me of a scenario I remember from my Psychology class- where a woman was beat to death in the street while all of her neighbors listened.   They all thought someone else would call the police, so no one called the police.  This is what America has become- a country where the threat of embarrassment (or someone filing suit) is more important, then getting involved when you see a dangerous situation happening.

I’ll get off my soapbox now- I highly recommend checking this out in a couple of weeks when they run a new episode- it’s on ABC.
