SYTYCD8: America’s Favorite Dancer

Does that seem like a lame title to you?  I mean, compare it to American Idol or America’s Top Model.  Favorite Dancer just doesn’t have that zip and pow and wow factor.  I trust that the producers and all of the creative minds behind the show put some real time and effort into the title so if that’s the best they came up with I guess I’m OK with that.  Even America’s Top Dancer would be cool but I guess that infringes on ANTM.  America’s Dancing Queen or King???   Maybe on the lame side.  Dated.  I’m not saying I have any great ideas, I’m just saying I wish they would have come up with something with more pizazz.

I was in heaven last night.  That is what I call a finale.  Besides this last one Sasha did with Marc (which I realize was just a day ago) they showcased ALL of my favorite dances.  One right after the other.  I might even watch the whole show again it was so spectacular.  I skipped all the dialogue so it was just one terrific, moving dance right to the next.  This was an amazing season and they wrapped it up beautifully.

And I’m going to sound like a broken record but Sonya Tayeh’s opening number was super fantastic.  Dark and quirky and everything I love.

Of course Melanie was going to win.  And of course Sasha and Melanie were going to be the last two standing.  I don’t like it very much when the show is so predictable.  I like a little mystery.   A little up and down but Melanie was just up.  Even when she slipped it didn’t matter in the least.  She was the Golden Girl.

I’m really sad the season is over but like I said I think I’ll keep this finale on Tivo and just watch it periodically.  That was a bang up show last night.  I’d throw both my shoes on the stage if I was in the audience.  Not for Melanie winning but the the totally awesome, completely radical, buccitude that was last nights show.

What do you think?  Are you happy Melanie won?

SYTYCD8: Top 4 Perform

OK.  You know I dislike ballroom/latin…Did you know that I like it when elite ballroom/latin dancers dance it?  I do.  I just don’t like it when these non ballroom/latin dancers try it.  It looks awkward and gangly and out of step to me.  So it’s not that I don’t like the genre.  I just don’t like it on this show.  Except for when Pasha is involved.  Then I love it.

So I feel the same way about disco.  Every time they do it on this show I cringe.  I think it looks completely ridiculous and I cannot believe it when the judges rave about it.  Sure I’m glad disco is still around but leave it to professionals people.  They don’t have ballet on the show because, I assume, it’s way too technical. So don’t have disco on the show.  You need way more practice than 7 hours to pull it off.  This is of course my humble opinion.  By all means feel free to disagree.  I double dog dare you to leave a comment and knock me down a peg or two.  :)

Sonya Tayeh I could kiss you.  This dance with Sasha embodies my life.  I am bipolar and fight with my disease on a daily basis.  I saw Sasha push Mark away and he would just come back.  Oh my gosh, I’m crying while I’m writing this.  (I love this freaking show!!!!!)  He just kept coming back but she never gave up.  She kept pushing and pushing even though he was destroying her.  At the end when she throws him to the ground I thought, you know what.  I’m going to do that.  Maybe not today, but one day I will throw my demons to the ground and never look back.  Sonya Tayah + Sasha + Mark = Pure genius.  That was written for me, right now.  I needed that.

Lil’C you rock my world.  I can’t get enough of you!!!  Hustle Hard for reals.  Mega bucc.

Ray Leeper with Melanie and Tadd was just pure enjoyment.  I’m sure he already had the idea but how timely for Tadd’s keep your shirt off campaign to come into light on the same show.  Gotta love those editors.  So happy that Tadd picked something that highlighted his amazing skills once more.

So I loved Stacey Tookey’s 50′s housewives dance but something about it bothered me.  I didn’t like that every time one of them tried to escape the other one pulled them back into their picket fence prison.  I would have had more sympathy for them if an invisible hand pulled them back in.  Symbolizing society?  I guess it was hard for me to get into the 50′s mindset where what society says rules to the point that I would keep my best friend from becoming something more.  I’m not saying that didn’t happen, I’m saying it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around.  Otherwise, I believed their misery and their companionship.

Gumboot Stepping.  I don’t know.  It was cute.  But I like hard hitting, powerful, knock your socks off stuff so this wasn’t really for me.  I think if I’d seen Nigel’s group from Africa I would feel differently.

Not the finale I wanted.  There were some low notes and I don’t want to see low notes in a finale.  I want bangs and whistles and I want to cry and laugh and hate society but I only liked most of what I saw.  Not loved it and wanted to swim around in it for days and days.  Except of course the Sonya Tayeh routine.  I watched that over and over.

I absolutely think Nigel is right.  A girl is going to win.

Here’s my top four from fav to least (though I still love the least).  Tadd, Sasha, Marko, Melanie.  I’ve never said it before but every time they interview Melanie she comes across as snotty to me.  Like she knows she’s that good and is trying not to show it.  That’s just me though.  I don’t personally know her.  Just judging the poor girl on how she acts in front of the camera.

Now, who do I think is going to win?  Melanie.   Hands down.   For sure.  I’m never right though.  I always pick wrong but that my best guess.

I am dying to know who you think is going to win?

The SYTYCD finale is on Tonight, Thursday at at 7pm on FOX.

MasterChef: Top 5 Compete

I’m so very, very sad but like I said yesterday, I was worried about Ben being able to win.  I didn’t want to see him go out like this though.  I totally, 100% believe him when he says he can cook venison perfectly.  How sad to make a mistake in a setting like this on something you know so well.  Ben, I will miss you.  You have got to be the sweetest, kindest, most loving and caring person in the world.

I will say that the top four really isn’t a surprise.  They have pretty much been the ones to beat the whole time.

Do you get the feeling that the judges are saying overly mean things to Christian because they think he’s a total A?  That’s what it feels like to me.  Joe said to Christian, “If you could put the kind of bravado that spews from your mouth into your plate I think you could be a top contender.”   Oh please, please Ramsay and Joe give me more of that!!  (Graham is too nice to lay into him.)

Here’s some Christian quotes from last night.  ”I think they expect great things out of me because I’m great.”  ”I think it says a lot.  I’m still here.  I’m still the best chef ever.”  Christian is not lacking in confidence.  Now only the really good ones are left he’s got a great chance of going home and I cannot wait for that moment.  I hope the judges lay into him like there’s no tomorrow and then kick his sorry trash out.  Oh, it’ll be good.

Another quote I have for you is from Graham.  He was introducing Ramsay as the Chef to imitate and said, ”…the man who put the F in food.”  Oh Joe’s face was priceless when Graham said this.  I swear he rolled his eyes.  I wonder what those guys really think of each other off camera.  Does Joe think Ramsay is really good but mostly full of it or was that just brilliant editing?

Again, I’m so sad that Ben is gone.  He was a ray of brilliant sunshine on the show.  If I ever get out to Texas I’ll have to look him up.  I follow him on Twitter so I’ll be waiting to see what happens next for him.  Oh, and did you see Ramsay kiss him?  That’s a sure sign what a wonderful person he is.

Do you feel like it’s a tease to have the show on two days in a row?  Doesn’t it leave you wanting more, right now?  It does me.

MasterChef is on Monday at 8pm MT on FOX.

One Final Night by Wendy Young

I was on Twitter yesterday and found this short story and I cried and cried.  It’s about the last night a couple shares together.  The big “D” word gets discussed and it seems like it’s all over for them.  They both have secrets that one willingly shares and the other person kind of has to get drawn out.

I will tell you right now that this touched my heart.  My husband was out for the night and all I wanted to do was wrap my arms around him and tell him I would never let him go.  Before the couple falls asleep the words the husband utters are life changing.

I haven’t read any of Young’s other works (she’s a new author to me) but she is definitely on my to read list now.  You can download the short story One Final Night from Smashwords for free.  It comes in all different types of formats (you can read it on your PC, Kindle, Nook, etc…)

I’m going to check out her book Come the Shadows which I will download on Amazon but you can also find it at B&N and Smashwords. Young is also doing a giveaway to win a free ebook.  It’s described as a mystery with humor and romance.  This isn’t my usual genre but after reading One Final Night I will absolutely, with my whole heart check it out.

One Final Night takes such a short time to read I say go read it now and then come back and tell me if it made you cry like it did me.  Even the day after my heart is swelling inside  me just thinking about it.

MasterChef: Top 6 Compete

I’m surprised there wasn’t more yelling during the fist challenge of the night.  I mean Ramsey didn’t shut the kitchen down.  No one was crying.  What was the point of that?  Really, I’m kidding.  It’s been obvious to me from the beginning that Ramsey has a soft heart when it comes to this show.  I mean I think I’ve only heard the “F” word a handful of times.

I can’t imagine what it would bel like working in a busy upscale kitchen cooking tricky, time sensitive food.  When I cook I’ve got my music blasting and I’m all by myself in wonderful solitude cooking food that I’m going to enjoy eating.  I would never make it on this show.  Never.  Ever.  In a million years.  I just don’t have the experience.  These home chefs amaze me week after week.  I mean, who makes souffles?  I make cake from a mix or cookies.  That’s it for me.

I don’t think I have witnessed anything funnier on this show than Suzy having an orgasm while Ramsey cleaned and portioned the fish.  That was awesome.  Suzy’s reaction I mean.  Ramsey did a great job too but she was squirming and gasping.  ”Oh wow.”    She’s been one of my favorites from the beginning because she’s got a mouth on her and says the most ludicrous things.  This topped them all.  She can win it now for all I care.

Well, I do care and I still really like Ben Starr but he lost it last night.  Total floundering.  He seemed to get it back together and they did win but I’m really wondering what his chances are of winning.

My favorite comment of the night, besides “Oh wow.” is also from Suzy. ”This fish literally gave it’s life for this pressure test. And for it to go out in such a manner is just, it’s a travesty.”  It’s nice to know she cares.

Sad to see Tracy go.  She’s been a solid front runner.  Just goes to show how hard that pressure test was.  I cried like a baby when they gave her a scholarship to their MasterChef culinary classes.  Wow.  That was a very kind gesture to know her individual needs and fill them.  MasterChef made me cry.

Do you believe Ramsey when he says things like, “This is difficult to let one of you go”?  Or do you think he thinks something like, “Good riddance.  Get the hell out of my kitchen”.

MasterChef is on Tonight, Tuesday at 8pm on FOX.

SYTYCD8: 2 of 6 Voted Off

Before I get into last night I just want to say I overlooked one of my favorite routines because I had to blog so quick.  Twitch + Nappy Tabs + whatever that Dungeons Dragon song was + Little Red Riding Hood = a match made in heaven.  I absolutely loved it.

Melanie and Marko.  Well, duh.  Of course they are going to be the first ones called.

You may hate me for saying this but Bad Boys of Dance?  Give me break.  When I hear bad boy I want b-boy.  I want hit hop.  I want hard hitting not a bunch of poser ballet dancers.  I probably would have liked the routine had it not been for their name.  That’s how fickle I am.

Sasha.  No brainer.  Caitlyn is awesome but not in the same league.

Tadd?!!!!!  Now that is a pleasant surprise.  I wan’t sure he had a shot at that.  You have no idea how happy this makes me.  I don’t think he even has a hairs breath chance of winning but I am thrilled that he made it to the finals!!!!!  So happy!  My favorite dancer.

I can’t wait until next Wednesday.  I predict that the show is going to blow our minds.

Are you happy with the results?

SYTYCD is on Wednesday at 7pm MT on FOX.

Captain America-The First Avenger

I had to wait to watch this movie until my husband was available because comic book movies are kind of our thing.  And you know what, I love that.  I’ll wait however long I need to to see a movie with him.

As far as comic book movies go, I really liked it.  I think the part that stands out the most (and you’ve seen it in the previews) is the way Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) looks before he turns into Captain America.  The guy is emaciated.  Only refugees and cancer patients look that skinny.  But it was totally believable.  I bought it.  It didn’t look CG at all to me.

Now, what stands out even more is after he goes through the process and the machine is opened and there he stands in all of his glory…  Hot.  Holy frickin hot.  When Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) reaches out her hand to touch him (also highly publicized) you just understand.  Of course she wants to touch him after that amazing transformation.  I would too.  Only I wouldn’t pull my hand away.  I would totally cop a feel.

I love Hugo Weaving.  He has the most amazing face and teeth.  I know that’s kind of weird to say but he does.  He’s a great Red Skull and he has the coolest toys.

Normally I don’t like Nazi’s.  As in, I don’t even want to talk or hear about them they disgust me so much and every time I think about them I think about the atrocities that they committed and it makes me sick.  But you know what?  There are Nazi’s in this movie but they are so far removed from reality that it was super easy to stomach.

This was not the best movie I have ever seen but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The story was great.  The super powers were awesome and believable.  The cast was spectacular.  I would definitely recommend grabbing your significant other and having a night out.  And stay until after the credits for an Avenger sneak peek. (Can’t wait for that to come out.)

Captain America is currently in theaters.

SYTYCD8: Top 6 Perform

I have two minutes so this will be short but hell yeah.  Sonya Tayeh plus Florence & The Machine.  I’ll watch it every day of the week.  Oh and Caitlin and Marko were pretty awesome too.

Lil’C.  I love him.  I wish he was on every week.  The way he proliferates gets my heart racing.  Definitely going to check him out on Twitter.

Christina Applegate.  Never knew she was a dancer but so glad she was on this week.  I will watch anything she is in.  Remember Samantha Who? I rewatch it on Netflix.  Yeah I do.

Chandelier routine. Not my fav but in all honesty because it was Sonya Tayeh I still liked it a lot.  I’m prejudiced in a good way.

Wall routine.  Amazing.

Whacking?  I didn’t even like it when Princess Lockaroo did it but I would much rather watch her than the routine last night.

And it’s confirmed.  I only like ballroom when Pasha is involved.  I’m glad he’s been on every week.  Spicy, hot.

Who do I think is going home?  Tadd and Caitlin.  Do I want Tadd to go home?  Absolutely not but I think Marko has a chance of winning (slim) and Ricky just seems to have more fans.

Who do you think is going home tonight?

SYTYCD is on Tonight, Thursday at 7pm MT on FOX.

Top 8 Compete Again

I knew it would be a double elimination.  I watch enough reality TV to know the signs and Tivo gave it away.  I looked up next weeks show and it said “Top 6 Compete.”  Not 7, but 6.

I am so happy Ben Starr didn’t go home last night.  Phew.  I was super tense when Ramsey actually made a face of disgust after tasting his soup.  I thought for sure he was a goner until I saw who he was up against and then I was 100% certain he was safe.  I like it when I’m right.

What about Suzy making a comeback?  Two top dishes in one night.  I’m impressed.  She’s still cocky but she’s turned down the volume a bit so it’s so much easier to like her now.

Christian.  I have been waiting and waiting for him to get his comeuppance.  I thought it was a flat out elimination Monday but I’ll settle for Ramsey’s dressingdown last night.  Do I think he’s going to change?  Never.  I don’t think anything could change Christian’s attitude.

All in all an exciting night.  I’m sure you have a favorite by now.  Who is it?  Mine is Ben Starr.

MasterChef is on Monday at 8pm MT on FOX.

MasterChef: Top 8 Compete

My jaw was on the floor.  I was on the verge of hysterical giggles when I thought Christian was going home.  And then Ramsey sent him upstairs too?! I couldn’t believe it.  I thought we were finally going to get rid of that arrogant SOB.  And you know, it’s so funny that I feel that way because I normally like the villain.  Boston Rob, Russell to name a few.  I love arrogant SOBs.  So why don’t I like Christian?  Maybe because he has literally ostracized every single person on the show including the judges.  At least my other villains had their groupies that adored them. Christian has no one.  On the show at least.  I can’t speak for his real life or his fans.

And who puts mustard and pickles on a kids sandwich?  I polled my kids and they all agree that the chicken sandwich would have been their choice.  And I mean by a long shot it would have been their choice.

I 100% agree with Jennifer that if you had mixed onions in with the burger not a single kid would have noticed.  Cheese and ketchup and you would have a strong runner in the competition.  The sweet side probably would have taken blue team to the top if they would have changed the burger.

I have never had a corn fritter so I don’t even have any idea how that changes the game.

I am in awe that all four of the contestants nailed the souffle.  Wow.  I am seriously impressed.

I’m mad that nobody went home.  It stresses me out when shows do a double elimination.  Honestly, it freaks me out the whole episode.  I really thought this was the shot to get Christian.  I’m super bummed.

I just want to say again how much I love the three judges.  They’re perfect.  I love their interaction and glares as they work with the contestants.  I think they are my favorite part of the show.

So, next week it looks like Christian gets told off.  I can’t wait to see.  Any guesses who might go home?

MasterChef is on Tonight, Tuesday at 8pm MT on FOX.

Sleight of Hand by Deanne Blackhurst Offer

Is it possible to con your way out of hell? Fifty-two year old Daniel Cabrero thinks so and why wouldn’t he? After all, that’s how he spent his entire life. But Jonah his spirit guide has reasons of his own for making sure that Daniel pays for all the suffering and misery he’s caused others in the past. Still sometimes people can change, even in hell. And maybe Daniel can keep his son from following the same path that brought him here.

Now you may have noticed this isn’t my typical read but I was intrigued by the idea of a con man trying to con his way out of hell.  I haven’t read it yet, but I’m definitely intrigued.  Some of the girls and I are going to be reviewing this book later this month and the author is offering our readers the Ebook for $1.99.   The offer is good until August 31st.  Use this link:  Sleight of Hand and enter the code:  MX73D.  Look for our review on August 17th.

Cowboys and Aliens

I am so pumped right now.  I have to admit right here and now that I’m a sucker for action movies.  Total sucker.  I just love them.  I love the suspense.  I love the dashing leading man and the gorgeous leading lady.  I love the enemy.  They’re cool to me.  And most of all I love crap just blowing up.  The more stuff blows up the better.  ”Oh look.  There’s a random car of there…better blow it up.”  Cool with me.

So Wild West meets Sci Fi isn’t that familiar to me.  I did follow Joss Whedon’s Firefly which is exactly Wild West meets Sci Fi but that’s all I have encountered. (Let me really quick say how much I love Joss Wedon’s shows.  I get so mad every time one gets cancelled.)

I loved the Wild West aspect of it.  Dirty and grimy and super gritty.  Daniel Craig, who is probably the hottest actor on the planet, is so believable as a super tough outlaw Jake Lonergan (he has his shirt off or open on several occasions.  Swoon).  I’m not a super big fan of Harrison Ford but he played a bad A, I’m running this town, get the crap out of my way western business man and he did it really well.  I super believed it.  And Olivia Wilde as Ella…breathtaking.  She makes me want to cover myself from neck to ankle just to look like her.  I mean if she can look sexy wearing so much clothing maybe I can too.

I’m not sure I’m a super fan of the aliens (remember, I like bad guys) but I believed the story, and I loved the way they snatched people up.  Maybe I’m just gullible (I’m a sucker) but I totally bought what this movie was selling.  It was suspenseful and frightening at times and I had an awesome time watching it.

I say, it’s totally worth seeing in the theater on the big screen.  I loved it.  Did anyone else see it?  What did you think?

Cowboys and Aliens is in theaters now.

Zookeeper

So here we go.  We saw Smurfs yesterday.  We saw Zookeeper this morning.  I had problems with Smurfs but in the end enjoyed it for what it was.  I cannot say the same for Zookeeper.

My biggest litmus test for a kids comedy is how much my children laugh out loud.  Laugh without even realizing they are laughing.  My kids did not laugh once at Zookeeper.  And it was filled with all sorts of potty humor and slapstick comedy.  Not a single giggle, chuckle, nothing.  And believe me when I say I didn’t even come close to laughing.

There were two love triangles going on all with Kevin James in the middle.  I thought that was too much for a kids movie.  To much drama for a kids movie.  Sure there are a ton of lighter elements but when I watch a kids movie with my kids I watch it through their eyes and I am positive they could have cared less about Leslie Bibb’s Stephanie and who she loves.

My six year old said he loved it (but never laughed), my eight year old did not care for it and my ten year old said he liked it (though, again, he never laughed.)  I tried to ask them what they liked about the movie and they said everything.  Well, thanks for the help boys.

I will say I really, really loved Rosario Dawson as Kate.  I am a sucker for a hot, wicked smart girl.  She was the best part of the movie.  Kevin James is pretty adorable too.  Those two together with the animals were pretty fun but all of the other crap was just too much.  There was just too much going on in this movie for me.

I would say if you really want to see it, see it.  The kids will probably like it but I did not, and unless this comes on streaming from Netflix I will not pay for my kids to see this movie again.  There’s too much wonderful stuff out there.  But hey, I got to see two movies in one weekend.  That’s not bad at all.

Zookeeper is in theaters now.

SYTYCD8: 2 Out of 8 Voted Off

Oh man, six left.  This show is going to be over so soon and I am so sad about that.  I am also sad that Jess and Jordan went home.  I don’t agree with that decision at all.  If I chose it would have been Ricky and Caitlin that went home but I don’t vote so I can’t really complain.

I love Jordan.  She dances like I wish I could dance.  I see a lot of myself in her dancing so I will really miss her.

Jess.  He was just plain awesome.  Really at pretty much everything he did he was awesome.  I just remember him blowing my mind the first hip hop number he did.  I thought he was going to fail miserably but he was just spectacular.

Above all I am so thrilled that Tadd is still around.

I was talking to a friend today and really it’s going to be Marko, Melanie and Sasha in the end right?  I don’t see how it could be any other way.

I loved the group dance performance choreographed by Christopher Scott.  I’m going to have to check out their show (The League of Extraordinary Dancers) because this was dope.  Mega dope.

Lady Gaga was fun but didn’t blow me away.

I’m sad that Jordan is gone and sad that Tadd is probably going soon also.  Those two are by far my top two if it was my choice.  What do you think?  Are you happy with last night’s decision?

SYTYCD is on Wednesday at 7pm MT on FOX.

Smurfs

Well, I love Neil Patrick Harris but I did not love this movie.  Now I have a super high threshold for what I’ll watch with my kids so this really bored me for me to say I didn’t like it.  I think my problem is I love Neil Patrick Harris too much in other roles.  I wanted him to be loud and have crazy gestures with his hands but he played a totally straight character and I didn’t like it.  I didn’t like boring, plain old  Patrick Winslow (Harris).  He even had a cool job creating ad campaigns for a high end make up/skin care line and even that was boring.

So what I’m saying here is not that Harris did a bad job, I just wanted him to be more like Barney from How I Met Your Mother or anything even close to that.  This is my problem not his.  If I didn’t go into it expecting Barney I might have liked it more.  Or even him at the Tony’s.  He’s so fun and energetic elsewhere I wanted him to be that so badly in the movie and the role just didn’t allow it I guess.

I also didn’t like the Smurfs very much.  They looked creepy to me.  Not cuddly and cute.  They had a weird texture to their skin that I didn’t like.

Now, I’m happy I took my kids to see this because they LOVED it.   They were cracking up all over the place.  This is definitely a kids movie with some kid potty humor and ridiculous comedy.

I say take your kids but this aint no Pixar for the whole family fun.  I love the going out to a movie experience and I love even more taking my kids out to movies so even though this wasn’t a great one for me it was totally worth it for my kids reaction to it.

Even as I’m sitting here I like it more because I realize I was the problem with the movie not the movie itself.  Smurfs are still creepy but the humans did a great job with what they were given.

Jayma Mays, Emma from Glee, is Harris’ wife in the movie.  Cute as ever.  Seriously, I just want to pick her up and put her on a shelf.  But that would be so boring for her.

I realize this is a mixed and confusing review but if you have the right expectations I think it might be cute.  And kids will love it.  And theres magic in it.  Gargamel has the most awesome wand at the end.

Smurfs is in theaters now.

SYTYCD8: Top 8 Perform

Sonya Tayeh blows my mind. I could really just end this post there. She blows my mind every time. I was crying at the first routine, practically jumping out of my seat at the second. Oh man, I just wish I was Sonya Tayeh and that amount of creativity came out of me. I am in love.

My favorite guy is for sure, by far Tad.  I love everything that he does.  I think Marko is pretty gosh darn amazing too.  If I had to guess I’d guess Marko goes further than Tad because he seems to be the fan favorite but I’m on Team Tad all the way.

I really like Jordan for the girls.  I know she’s the total underdog but her leg extensions are too die for.  Of course Melanie and Sasha are going to fight it out for the final but I think my heart goes with Jordan.

That being said, Melanie and Sasha are freaking amazing.  Their final routine tonight made me want to jump around and punch something.  I’m not sure that was the desired effect but I loved it.

I felt so bad for the choreographers last night.  I felt like Lady GaGa was picking on them.  She kept praising the dancers and criticizing the choreographers.  Nappy Tab, I love you and I loved your props.  I really liked having Lady GaGa on the show other than that.  I liked her perspective.  I had never heard about throwing your shoe at the stage.  Who knew?

So, who’s going home tonight?

SYTYCD is on tonight (Thursday) at 7pm MT on FOX.

Ringer

I am totally and completely intrigued.  First of all because it stars Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, my all time idol.) and I would watch anything that she was in (as long as it was on basic cable.  That’s all I’m working with here.)   I love the idea of taking on the identity of someone else to save yourself only to find yourself in even deeper trouble that’s completely unfamiliar to you.  Now, this show looks intense and scary so I may not make it past the first episode but I will with 100% confidence that this is going to be awesome check out Ringer.  I’m really excited to watch a show with Gellar again, I just love Buffy so much, how could I not love Bridget/Siobahn?

Ringer will premiere Tuesday, September 13 at 7pm on The CW.

The Secret Circle

This was going to be one of those posts where I show you the preview for the show but The CW makes it impossible to embed files so I’m just going to have to give you a link.  Sorry.  I really, really tried.

The Secret Circle description from The CW:  Cassie Blake was a happy, normal teenage girl – until her mother Amelia dies in what appears to be a tragic accidental fire. Orphaned and deeply saddened, Cassie moves in with her warm and loving grandmother Jane in the beautiful small town of Chance Harbor, Washington – the town her mother left so many years before – where the residents seem to know more about Cassie than she does about herself. As Cassie gets to know her high school classmates, including sweet-natured Diana and her handsome boyfriend Adam, brooding loner Nick, mean-girl Faye and her sidekick Melissa, strange and frightening things begin to happen. When her new friends explain that they are all descended from powerful witches, and they’ve been waiting for Cassie to join them and complete a new generation of the Secret Circle, Cassie refuses to believe them – until Adam shows her how to unlock her incredible magical powers. But it’s not until Cassie discovers a message from her mother in an old leather-bound book of spells hidden in her mother’s childhood bedroom, that she understands her true and dangerous destiny. What Cassie and the others don’t yet know is that darker powers are at play, powers that might be linked to the adults in the town, including Diana’s father and Faye’s mother – and that Cassie’s mother’s death might not have been an accident.

Of course I’m going to look into this show. It’s about witches. I will definitely be giving The Secret Circle a once over in the Fall. I have very low hopes for it though. I know I’m a big ‘ol fuddy duddy but I really don’t like the way The CW portrays teen life. So much sex and drinking and violence. I’m OK with those things for grown adults but it really rubs me wrong when it’s teenagers doing all that crap. I used to love The Vampire Diaries and then I just got frustrated with how apathetic the adults were with what was going on in the lives of their kids. Well, really niece and nephew. I mean really, sleep overs with boyfriends? Anyway, I digress. I will be checking this show out and I am hoping to like it. I absolutely loved Life Unexpected. If this is more like that I will be happy. (What I’m looking for is caring adults.)

Brittany Robertson who played Lux in Life Unexpected looks like the lead here and she was charming and wonderful in LU so I expect great things from her here.

Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows

I am over the moon that this movie is coming out.  I didn’t do a review of the first one here so I don’t remember all of the details what I do remember is being blown away.  My mind was blown, my heart was racing.  I watched it several times before sending it back to Netflix and almost went out and bought it.  The reason I didn’t?  My husband hates Guy Ritchie  (the director) and wouldn’t even consider for one second watching this movie with me.  Not even for the love of spending time with his wife would he bend his standards to even try it out.  The slow mo gets to him.  That’s part of the reason I loved the movie.  The bending of time and showing us tick by tick why and how something is happening.  Loved it.  I will inevitably be by myself at the movie theater hopefully loving, cherishing, every minute of this movie.  And oh yeah, I’m kind of in love with Jude Law.

SYTYCD8: 2 out of 10 Voted Off

Snoop Doggie Dog.  Oh I can’t tell you how excited I was when they said he was performing.  And then Cat made it seem like he may or may not come at all.  And I was like, “Snoop, are you causing these nice people problems?”  And you know what?  He never answered.  Oh well.  It wasn’t even worth it.  He was on stage for what?  Ten seconds?

I enjoyed the solos last night.  Four is easier for me to stomach than six.  Don’t know why but they usually bore me.  No one stood out though.  There was no clear winner.

I wish I had more time to talk about Wednesday nights show.  It was just unbelievably good.  Except for the one dud everyone blew my mind.  I am really growing to love Sasha but Jordan I think is still my favorite.  It’s just so sad that she’s probably going home soon because the rest of America doesn’t love her the way I do.  Melanie and Marco though are still shining on their own.

I’m pretty sad that there will be new all stars next week.  I loved these ones and I for sure want to see Twitch again.  I’m just glad Pasha will be back.  Hubba hubba.

Here are your all stars for next week:  Ivan (Season 2), (S3): Jaimie, Anya and Pasha, Lauren G. and Neil, Ade (S5), Lauren F. (S7).

Sent home this week are Mitchell and Clarice.  I think the judges are right and everyone is just so good there’s nothing bad to say about them.  They’re amazing.

I really, really wish I had time to go through every dance from Wednesday and talk about it.  It’s just not happening this week.  Here’s to hoping next week will be just as amazing and I’ll have more time to talk with you about it.  Seriously, pretty much the whole show took my breath away.

SYTYCD is on Wednesday at 7pm MT on FOX.
