So You Think You Can Dance 6: Top 14 Results

Screen shot 2009-11-19 at 1.26.05 PMWell, I have to admit, it was so late, I watched almost the entire show on fast-forward, and only stopped to see who were the bottom 3 couples, watch them dance, and then see who the judges decided to send home. And, not that you care, but why did I do that? Because, last night, I was actually AT the So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 Tour Concert! (And it was awesome!) But, I’ll come back to that.

So, apparently I was WAY off about the bottom 3 couples… other than Kevin and Karen. And, honestly, I didn’t really agree with whir evaluation after they danced for their lives. Yes, it was Kevin’s time to go. I don’t think he is anywhere near the caliber of “hip hop” dancers from the last couple seasons. So, I’m not sad about that. But I was totally disappointed with the girls results. I know some people love Karen (Alisa included), but I just don’t see the appeal that the judges see. In my opinion, if fans aren’t voting for her, then she shouldn’t keep being saved by the judges… it’s just not fair to others who happened to fall in the bottom for the first time. And to be completely honest, I actually thought Channing had a rockin’ solo. They praised Mollee, but didn’t her solo seem desperate in the gymnastics-department? I was shocked when they saved her first. I thought either she or Karen should have gone home. I felt like Channing is finally proving why she’s there, and with another week or 2, I think she would have started to develop a fan-base. So, I’m bummed about that.

With that said, and having gone to Season 5’s concert last night, I now really feel like this season’s dancers need to start stepping it up. It’s already the top 14 (actually top 12 now…) but I have yet to be wowed by any dance number. There were “favorites” performed last night (at the concert) that were performed when it was just the top 18 and even top 20! So, I’m with Nigel now, and I’m waiting to be impressed.

ANTM: America’s Next Top Model Is…

America's Next Top ModelNicole!!!!  I thought for sure it was going to be Laura after this episode.  For sure.  She pulled off a great commercial and her runway walk was more “normal” than Nicole’s but Nicole won out in the end.  I love Nicole but her runway was comical.  I’m glad Tyra and Nigel thought it was signature.  I didn’t like Laura’s walk either but Tyra loved it.

I really enjoyed the sequence on the runway with the fabric and the wind.  I thought both girls did an amazing job with part.

It seems like the judges always choose the girl that has the worst commercial.  I remember thinking that the last several cycles.  I guess the emphasis of the top model job is not acting but runway and photo shoots.  And in that regard they totally picked the right person.  Nicole is stunning.  Just standing around she’s gorgeous but you get her in front of the camera and she comes so life.

I am so happy with the results.  Are you?

The Big Bang Theory: The Adhesive Duck Deficiency

The munchies.  I’ve never seen anyonebig_bang_theory_adhesive_duck_1 so ravenous before.  I’ve seen people eat some pretty crazy things but never rummage around like animals.  Made for good TV though.  For sure my favorite part was when they had their shirts tied around their heads eating brisquit and carrots and potatoes.  Mrs. Wolowitz saves the day.  The sad thing is they didn’t even go back and hook up with the teachers.

I can’t get enough of Penny and Sheldon.  That man amazes me with his lack of sexuality.  He should have been a very impersonal and horrible doctor.  ”That’s not my elbow.”  ”It doesn’t feel like an elbow.”  So my only question is do they tell Leonard?

And I cannot believe how well Sheldon drove.  I remember the simulated driving and he ended up on the second floor of a mall.  Granted it looked like he was driving 5mph but still that’s good for what he was doing before.

Then the Soft Kitty duet/round was too much.  I think Sheldon actually enjoyed it too.  I think if my kids were younger I’d start singing it to them and see if we could start a tradition.

I will say, I’d love to go camping with cable.  I’d probably go more often.  How about you?

The Big Bang Theory is on Mondays at 9:30pm on CBS.

The Biggest Loser 8: Week 10

Picture 6Well, I was totally underwhelmed with all of the makeovers.  There wasn’t a single of one them that took my breath away.  I’m not saying that they didn’t look nice but I was expecting more.  Maybe I’m thinking too much America’s Next Top Model makeover and not enough Biggest Loser makeover.

I’m not going to mention anything about their speeches because I fast forwarded through them.  I guess I felt I already knew their stories and it sounded boring so I skipped it.

I was interested to find out that Allen has been holding back on all of the challenges so he doesn’t get a target on his back.  Smart move  but I want to see somebody kick Rudy’s trash around a little bit.  Rudy is really getting on my nerves.  I guess because Shay went home last week and he was so ridiculous to Rebecca this week.  I’m done with him and his arrogance.  He needs to go home.

What a moving ending to watch Rebecca run the half marathon and cry at the end when she knows she’s going to accomplish her goals.  She looks great and I can’t wait to see her at the finale.

Does anyone else want Allen to step up and kick Rudy’s trash?

The Biggest Loser is on Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.  (Not sure why last night was on at 8:30pm but the website says 8pm for next week.)

So You Think You Can Dance 6: Top 14 Perform

Screen shot 2009-11-18 at 8.43.38 AMI can’t believe I’m admitting this, but some of my least favorite people are actually growing on me. My first favorite number of the night was Ashleigh and Jakob. (Who knew?!) But I think most of that is related to the fact that they got a Tabatha and Napolean Hip Hop routine. Seriously, those 2 make amazing routines. But, the girl (Ashleigh) is slowly growing on me. My other favorite was Channing and Victor. Another surprise. I absolutely loved the quirky bird jazz routine. But, on top of that, was that Nigel said it best. For the first time, Channing looked like she was having fun. So, she was actually a lot of fun to watch!

I liked a couple of the other routines as well, but they were forgettable. It certainly seemed that the obvious “bad” one was Kevin and Karen. Although I think it’s nice to hear feedback from the judges at the end of the night, I do feel like it’s more of a curse to the contestants. Having every judge state (before people vote) who they think will be in the bottom, will most likely make people not vote for that couple. I kind of think that’s Nigel’s way of trying to influence fans to vote for the best… not just their personal favorite. We’ll see.

I’m interested to see who else ends up in the bottom. If I had to guess, I would say Kathryn, Noelle, or possibly Ryan and Ellenore. It’s coming down to personalities now. And if I can’t remember (by the next morning) who they are, or what they danced, then they are clearly not stand-outs.

Who were your favorites, and who should go home tonight? Results on Fox, 8pm PST.

So You Think You Can Dance 6: Top 16

Screen shot 2009-11-17 at 11.14.50 AMIt’s been so long now, I can’t really remember every dance, but I wanted to make sure you all knew I was alive and still watching the show. Two weeks ago, 2 tappers went home… but I can’t say I was upset. As far as crowd appeal, and their routines, I felt it was deserved. This last week, the last of the tappers went home, along with Pauline.

Something that I do remember was how bluntly honest and even rude Nigel was, to mostly Nathan, but to all the dancers in the bottom. He complained that no one has lived up to Season 5 as of yet… especially when it comes to solos. Which I sort of agree with. However, I actually think the girls did well on their solos. But, as far as Nigel’s comments to Nathan, I thought he was just rude. He basically said that girls are voting for him just because of his good looks. And, not that I don’t agree, but come on, look what happened with Evan from last season! He made it to the top 4, and was clearly not the same caliber as the rest of them. And, even though he wasn’t getting votes based on looks, he was getting votes based on fans… which to me is exactly the same. Isn’t the point America’s Favorite Dancer? I think Nigel has just become bitter because he wants it to be about the best dancer.

Well, with that said, I’m looking forward to this week’s performances. Maybe it’s because I’ve been really busy, and I end up watching the show 3 days later, but I’m still not really attached to anyone. Oh, except I do really like Kathryn and Noelle. (I actually mix them up- I think they have similar looks when they dance, and in general.) And I do really like Russell. I could care less for Ryan. Especially after his “about me” profile- I’m pretty sure we all know he has muscles… but he sure didn’t hesitate to show off his body and all the outdoor sports he does. Gag.

The top 14 perform tonight, 8pm PST on Fox, and results air Wednesday, 8pm PST.

Amazing Race 15: “Are you a candelabra?”

20091116-tarI hate it when I love a “laidback” team like Gary and Matt.  Much as I love them, I’m always scared that their more relaxed nature will get them in trouble.  I will miss Gary’s Minnesota accent–the way he said “sauna” was cracking me up–and Matt’s pink hair.  Sniff, sniff.  Much as I love them, however, I wanted to smack Matt upside the head for not knowing what a candelabra is!  Oh well, at least they got to hang out in the saunabus.  How cool was that?

Meanwhile Meghan and Cheyne showed just how sporty they are by winning the volleyball–which looked ridiculously hard in that mud, by the way– in what appeared to be a much shorter time than the other teams.  They are tough competitors, but I don’t feel very strongly about them one way or the other.  I don’t love them, but I also don’t hate them.  They’re so solid as a team; they’re just not all that interesting.  I would pay good money to have legs like Meghan’s, however.  Wow.  She was the only one rocking the underwear out there.

The Globetrotters/Gay Brothers rivalry was getting kind of old by the end of the show, considering they all but drove that one into the ground.  Clearly they were trying to build up for the big fall at the end, but when they showed the footage the second time it really did look like an accident.  Flight Time was trying to pass Dan, tripped and fell, and accidentally brought Dan down with him.  Really not that big of a deal.  Or maybe I’m just biased because I like the Globetrotters way more than I do the brothers.

Amazing Race is on CBS, Sundays at 8 pm.

Legend of the Seeker: Baneling

se2_17Well it’s obvious the show has upped it’s gore factor.  Everyone has blood spurting out of them and they’re all twitching dying on the floor.  I’m not saying I mind so much as I’m surprised because I don’t remember last season being this way.

I didn’t understand until this episode that the underworld is where everyone goes after they die good or bad.  I was so shocked to see that monk surrounded by all the writhing, rotting bodies.  I guess last week I just didn’t think about it enough to figure it out.  But if the underworld is where you go after you die, it’s where you go after you die.

OK, the banelings.  They get to come back to the mortal world as long as they kill while they are there thus supplying the underworld with even more inhabitants and soldiers.  Good plan.

How hilarious is it that Cara tries to do something nice and ends up sending the locket away?  They got it back though in the end as well as the boy that carries the mark.

I can’t wait to see what the Keeper throws at them next week while the rift to the underworld is still open.  How about you?

Legend of the Seeker is on Saturdays at 2pm on WGN.  It’s also on several other channels at different times so check your guides.

The Vampire Diaries: History Repeating

THE VAMPIRE DIARIESWell, I don’t know if I’ve said it on this blog before but ghosts scare the living crap out of me.  Vampires, werewolves, witches, demons… no problem.  Ghosts?  Yikes.  I had shivers going up and down my body for a good chunk of this episode.  Especially when Bonnie was possessed by Emily.  I just about freaked out and turned the show off.  Possession scares me even more than ghosts by themselves.   And seances?  Triple threat.  Scary episode.

So good, Emily destroyed the necklace that could bring back Katherine and 27 other vampires.  Could you imagine the havoc they would cause if they were to be let out of whatever holding cell they’re in?  I finally just got that all the people burned in the church were vampires.  I honest to goodness hadn’t figured that out until they spelled it out for me.

I’m glad we have a new history teacher vampire to cause trouble now that Damon for this week has changed his ways.  Can’t wait to see what kind of havoc he wreaks.  I’m not so happy to have the aunt be a bigger part of the story.  She’s always rubbed me the wrong way.

How weird is it to have Jeremy be so subdued?  Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy he’s happy but it’s such a stark contrast it’s kind of hard to swallow.  I wonder if the coercion is going to wear off or maybe Damon or the new vampire teacher will override it.

Scary but great episode.  Anyone else freaked out about ghosts?

The Vampire Diaries is on Thursdays at 8pm on The CW.

Smallville: Idol

SMALLVILLEOh man, the Wonder Twins were hilarious.  Cops in a box!?  I know they didn’t know they were cops but seriously, too funny.  I also loved that they started a blog for the blur.  And that it was a seriously lethal threat when Chloe said she would shut down their Twitter and Facebook accounts.  I hope we see more of them in a more positive role.

I just about peed my pants when Lois hear Clarks voice on the phone and she put two and two together.  Darn it all if they didn’t have to ruin that.  I know I’m being impatient but I want Lois and Clark.  I want full disclosure.  I want it all and I can’t have it.

Cute scene with the glasses too.  I enjoyed the break from doom and the end of the world.  Did you?

The Office: Murder

Screen shot 2009-11-13 at 3.03.36 PMWhat keeps me going with this show are the little things. When I think about an episode as a whole, it’s not usually the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. But, the characters are so real, and the combination of them all, the little nuances, and their interaction between each other make me love watching. Seriously- who doesn’t love Dwight, and the way he reacts to Jim’s “encouragement?” Only Jim could get Dwight to beat himself up, without Dwight realizing it. And while Michael is clueless, and clearly does not know how to run a branch, his ridiculous game of murder mystery was actually a decent distraction from them potentially all losing their jobs. (Who else would get both Stanley and Angela to stay by offering a sandwich platter… and baby carrot sticks?) I loved that Creed leaves work, because, quite possibly, he really has murdered someone… And I love it when Jim actually realizes that in some way, Michael is valuable as a co-manager. Isn’t that why we’re all married? So, one of us can plan our lives out, and the other can play games and keep everyone happy? As funny as their “talking heads” were, I have to say, that is a decent description of what the balance between my parents was, and possibly the balance between my husband and me as well. But, I can’t forget to mention my absolute favorite part- when Oscar attempts to talk in a southern accent. I’m still laughing thinking about it.

This is quite irrelevant, but did anyone else notice Ryan’s glasses? For the first time ever, I actually thought he was good-looking! Remind me of your favorite part… I never remember them all by the time I sit down to blog.

Survivor Samoa: Tastes Like Chicken

11Aww yeah baby.  It’s Alisa again and I told you Russ was my man.  Well, maybe not in those words but he is awesome.  He’s so smart about those immunity idols.  I mean if you’ve watched the show before you know where they tend to be.  Anybody could have looked for them but only he did.  I love him.  It’s going to take a few more episodes for me to decide if I think he can actually go all the way but he is still my favorite right now.

I was a little mad at the show because they pretty much told us before it happened that Laura won immunity.  It took all the suspense out of it when Russell and Shambo laid out their plan and the only way it would be disrupted would be if Laura won immunity.  And so she did.  I don’t even know why I watched the challenge already knowing the outcome.

So it looks like no one will leave Russell alone next week.  Can’t say I blame them but how annoying that must be.  I want so bad for the boys to side with Foa Foa and kick of Laura.  She’s pretty much the devil to me.  She needs to be kicked off ASAP.

Oh, and how cute was it that Natalie killed that rat.  That was one of the cutest things I think I’ve ever seen on Survivor.

The only reason I’m sad Kelly is gone is because I love her hair and I will miss seeing it.  I wasn’t quite certain why they voted for her but I can’t say I really care.

So, what do you think is going to happen next week?

Survivor Samoa is on Thursdays at 8pm on CBS.

America’s Next Top Model: Hawaiian Hip Hop

America's Next Top ModelYou know, I’m not really a big fan of the dancing challenges.  Maybe I’m just not in the know but are models required to dance on the runway?  Maybe in very specific shows for certain designers but it can’t be such a huge thing for their career right?  Anyway, I just hate that it totally embarrasses some of the girls.  I know I’m being too sensitive but my heart just breaks for girls like Nicole that can’t dance worth beans.  She seemed to be fine though so I’m just going to shut up now.

Was it just me or were the waves in the photo shoot pretty weak.  I thought they were going to be up above their heads and all around them.  I also thought they would be dressed more like a Hawaiian goddess.  Their wardrobe was pretty lame to me.

Well, I really liked Jennifer but I can totally deal with Laura and Nicole as the final two.  Last week I would have wanted Nicole to win but now I’m not sure I care.  I like them both.  I like Nicole’s look better but Laura is so cute I can barely stand it.  She wants this so bad.

I do know that next weeks Covergirl commercial is going to be painful.  And not just because I saw the previews just because it always is.  Sometimes it’s just hard to watch.

I can’t believe next week is it.  Can you?

ANTM is on Wednesdays at 8pm on The CW.

Dollhouse and Eastwick Cancelled

dollhouse11I can honestly say I am almost crying right now.  Why do I have to love the shows the TV execs hate.  I really like Dollhouse and I love Joss Whedon so I am totally upset by that cancellation.  I think I love everything about the show.  The premise, the actors, the characters.  Super sad about this one.

I am devastated about Eastwick.  I don’t understand at all why this show would be cancelled.  It’s got a great plot line and terrific actresses.  It’s safe to say this is one of my eastwick2favorite shows on TV right now.  And my gosh, it’s in the 10pm time slot.  Does it really hurt anybody if it just hangs out there?  I mean really?  I feel totally betrayed by ABC.  How dare they tempt me with this beautiful show and then take it away.  Aargh.

Why do I even bother with new shows?  They all get cancelled in the end anyway.  Oh well.  Are you as sad as I am?

Here’s the link the the article at /film.

The Biggest Loser 8: Week 9

Picture 2How about that circus challenge?  When I first saw it I thought, you’ve got to be kidding me.  How are these people going to jump through a hoop?  But they did it.  Even Shay managed it.  Most of the challenges on the show look horrible to me.  I would never want to do them but this looked like it might be fun.  Well, maybe for the first ten jumps.

A double elimination.  A red line.  Yikes.  Poor Daniel.  They just cannot get him to lose weight.  I have total faith in him though.  He’s got the fire even if it’s not showing on the scale.  And it looks like from his recap that he’s already lost 215 lbs which is the record, right?  Although I guess it doesn’t count because it was spread out over two seasons.  Bummer.  I think he’s going to look great at the finale.

And let’s talk about David for a second.  It’s just sad to see him, right?  He said something like, “I don’t feel unhealthy.  When I start to feel unhealthy I’ll lose weight.”  How can that be possible.  He has to get out of breath easily.  He has to have trouble walking especially upstairs or up hills.  I can’t believe he was ever on the Ranch.  Can’t believe it didn’t change his perspective even a little.

And Shay.  Jillian was so concerned about her staying.  Even so much that it seemed like (maybe editing) that she was spending more time with her.  I mean Bob even picked up training Danny for a bit when Jillian uncharacteristically sent him out of the gym.  It surprised me that she was that concerned.  Which got me freaked out when Shay went home.  I was so scared and Tivo cut off the last bit of the show so I didn’t get to see her recap and it got me scared that she bombed when she got home.  Thanks goodness for the website.  I went on and watched her latest video and she looks like she’s doing great.  Motivational speaking and she’s lost a ton of weight and has six trainers.  That’s right six.  She looks like she’s in a really good place.

In case your DVR cut off the end or if it never aired and you’re curious here’s a link to her video.  Shay, Where are they Now?

All in all a great show but I am sad to see Shay and Daniel go.  I’m sorry to say I would have preferred to see two of the older people go home but oh well.  They seem to be thriving at home. Can’t wait to see them at the finale.  How about you?  How did this episode turn out for you?

The Biggest Loser 8 is on Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.

Legend of the Seeker: Marked

117049_0400Finally this is back on.  I will say right off the bat though that my husband didn’t last through the first fifteen minutes before he walked away.  I don’t know.  I’ve got a soft spot for this show and I’m going to continue to watch it.

So first of all.  We go from Darken Rahl, a bad sorcerer type guy to the Keeper of the Underworld.  Really?  That seems like such a jump to me.  They couldn’t have found someone in between.  I mean I’m coming up blank for options here but where are they going to go next once he defeats the Keeper?  I’m just going to forget about that for now and focus on this season.

Have I mentioned before that I love the Mord-siths?  Maybe it’s TMI but I would love one of those outfits.  Those girls are beyond sexy and totally badass.  What’s not to love?  And Cara is just about one of the most beautiful girls I’ve seen and she’s a good girl now.  It doesn’t get any more awesome than that.  Can you imagine the fights they’re going to have between Cara and Kahlan.  I don’t mean bar fights I just mean they’re not going to trust each other at all.

Speaking of Kahlan.  Why was she ever considering leaving the Seeker.  I don’t care if she’s the Mother Confessor she’s Richard’s Confessor and she should know better than to leave him.

I’m intrigued by this prophecy that Richard will fail but know that everything will work out in the end.  It always does.

So anyone else excited the show is back on again?

Legend of the Seeker is on Saturdays at 2pm on WGN.  It’s also on several other channels at different times so check your guides.

The Amazing Race 15: This is the worst thing I’ve ever done in my life

Screen shot 2009-11-09 at 9.51.19 AMI would comment on the first half of the episode, except what’s the point. After watching that gruesome final task, I can’t remember anything else that matters. I know the girls had a hard time last week with golfing and swinging a hammer. But I think rolling out hundreds of hay bales beats that any day. And clearly, since a few years ago, it took a team 10+ hours to do the same challenge, the producers must have been going for drama.

It’s actually challenges like that that make me love/hate the show. I have so much respect for those who can pull through. I so badly want to do the race, but I don’t know if I’d survive a day like that. (Especially being a girl, and going up against a bunch of strong guys.) And the problem with “needle in a haystack” roadblocks is that SO much is about luck. It might take you 30 minutes if you guess right, or 10 hours if you don’t. And that sucks as a strong competitor. Sam and Dan were the first ones at the challenge, and almost the last to leave.

I am SO happy it was a non-elimination round. Mostly because I still want Matt and Gary in the race. I am sick of Ericka and her whining. She is way to prissy, girly, and high-maintenance for me. However, it finally makes perfect sense why they so frequently comment about their inter-racial marriage… Ericka’s mom wishes they hadn’t got married. I guess I’d be out to prove something too if my parents didn’t like who I chose to marry. Then there’s Sam and Dan. Did anyone else want to punch Dan in the face as he’s yelling at Sam the entire time?! I would have been so mad. However, I think he kind of made up for it by being so emotional at the pit stop and realizing that he was such a jerk. Finally, I just can’t get enough of the Globetrotters. They make watching the show absolutely hilarious and entertaining. Poor Big Easy- too tall to do a challenge. Although he had some serious luck with the hay bales! I’m actually really glad they won the leg. I’d want to win a leg if it were my birthday too!

Well, I don’t know if Gary and Matt can make up time next week, but I’m excited to find out. Watch The Amazing Race Sunday at 8pm PST, on CBS.

Smallville: Kandor

SMALLVILLEWell, after just saying I didn’t pay any attention to the Kandorians there’s a whole episode devoted to them.  I guess the writers want me to pay more attention.  Note taken, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it.

How bad does it suck for Clark to lose Jor-El right when he finds him.  There must have been so many questions he had for him.  Not to mention the longing to have a father again.  Super sucks.

And what about Jor-El asking Clark to save Zod.  I know Clark is mad but Clark is Clark, he’s totally going to give Zod a break in the end.  Or at least that’s what my take on Clark is.

I think it’s hilarious that Lois left town.  Of course she only left town because it was convenient for the story but it’s cute that she runs at the first sign of commitment.

It looks like the Kandorians are going to play a bigger part in the show whether we like it or not.  How was Friday’s episode for you?  Did you change your mind about the Kandorians now that you have more detail?

Smallville is on Fridays at 8pm on The CW.

The Office: Double Date

off_6009_01It’s Alisa for Elaine this week.  How funny were Dwight and Andy trying to one up each other?  And can you believe Dwight actually thought buying bagels for the office could get Jim fired or himself promoted?  You just can’t underestimate the lengths Dwight will go to to get what he wants.

And you also can’t underestimate what a jerk Michael can be.  Holy crap.  I totally understand him freaking out about her stage in life.  She obviously wasn’t interested in doing the things Michael thought he might possibly want to do but to break up with her like that is just so Michael.  Very Classy.

And then Pam hitting Michael was just too perfect.  I loved how everything calmed down and he apologized and then she hit him because Michael, being Michael, just couldn’t let it go.  He always has to have the last word.  Well certainly not this time.

And something has to be said about Ryan’s nude or at least topless photo shoots in the office with Kelly.  Where is Toby while this is going on?  I assume being those two that they are doing during business hours.  Seriously, what will they come up with next?

The Office is on Thursdays at 9pm on NBC.
