Hey, it’s Alisa blogging for Elaine today. This was such a funny and at the same time heart wrenching episode. How hilarious is it to watch Coach still trust JT? The man is an idiot. JT has lied to his face for weeks now (well, weeks to us, days to them) and Coach still thinks he’s running the show. I would love to be a fly on the wall when these episodes air and Coach’s friends (Should I have put that in quotation marks?) see what’s been going on. Do they totally watch it with rose colored glasses and side with him or do they think he is a delusional moron like the rest of us?
That was the wussiest auction ever. To give Taj an opportunity to be alone on exile with her husband and give everyone else their loved ones was too mushy for me. Of course she’s going to choose going alone. Taj is not heartless. She knows how badly everyone wants to see their family. But isn’t part of the fun knowing that someone’s family member is mere feet away and they wont be able to see them. I know I’ve proven to be a heartless B in the past and this is just another showing but that was all too happy for me.
But let’s go back to Coach again for a minute. Everyone else has loved ones come to bring them some cheer and Coach has who? His Assistant Coach. What? Are you trying to tell me there is no one he loves more than his Assistant Coach? And judging from all the “stretching” they were doing maybe he is a loved one. I’m not judging, just saying.
And then when Coach was like, “Do you know what they call me around here? Dragon Slayer. Because I slay the dragons.” Um, does Coach not know that people are going to be watching this? I’ve watched all the episodes and I’m pretty sure the only one who has ever called Coach a dragon slayer is Coach. He’s had rants about it in his testimonials. But I have never heard anyone else breathe a word about it.
Which brings us to the next Coach moment in Tribal when he says people call me warrior and “I didn’t come up with that, by the way.” And Jeff says, “Let me guess. Some chief in a small village…” Oh man, laughed my butt off. You have got to love Jeff. He gets his insider information from the camera guys and such and just blows things up in Tribal. He is amazing.
Now let’s talk about Stephen real quick. What kind of a freaking genius is he? Now, I have not math skill whatsoever so when he was explaining his strategy to remember the symbols he might as well have been speaking Greek to me but the hubs totally got it. Wow. That was absolutely incredible. He totally deserved immunity after that show of brains.
So Scott (hubs) mentioned that Stephen is the brains and JT is the brawn. Pretty much, right? Hubs thinks that Stephen is ultimately running the show. That even though JT is the mouthpiece and the one everyone goes to that Stephen is pulling the strings. And seriously what is up with the fact that no one is trying to vote either of them off? No one has turned against them. Fascinating.
Then we have Coach trying to vote off Taj, clearly thinking his input actually matters. And Debra trying to vote off Coach promising she would take Stephen and JT to the final two by sacrificing herself and coming in third. What was that bit of craziness? Ultimately it cost her and she was voted off to the utter surprise of Coach.
Elaine and I were talking and we’ve wanted Coach gone for so long that it’s disappointing every week he stays behind but in the end isn’t it funnier to watch Coach scramble and lie and still actually think he’s in control when that couldn’t be further from the truth? I can’t wait to see his reaction next week.
So what’s your verdict? You can’t believe Coach stuck around another week or you love watching him writhe in pain and dig his hole deeper and deeper?
Survivor is on Thursdays at 8pm on CBS.
